After an easy win over a "portalled out" Oregon State team, we face perhaps our toughest challenge this season in Ole Miss. They have good, strong guards who can score and a big, athletic interior game. These are my top 3 things that I want to see that are my keys to victory:

1) Jana and Ice to stay out of foul trouble, box out, and limit their turnovers or forced shots;

2) Our secondary scorers from the perimeter, Ash, KC, Sarah and Azzi to collectively have above average shooting games;

3) Paige to start early and get one of their guards in foul trouble quickly.

This will be a good test and a learning experience against a solid SEC group who are probably a top 10 team. What are your top 3 things that you want to see that you think will be keys to the game?

1. A solid game from ICE, Jana... ongoing PROGRESS
2. More than 10 successful team three pointers. Azzi, in particular, hits her groove!
3. Quality Defense from the starting "5" down the entire "long" bench!
3a.... all the above implies a "W"!!

IMHO, he only thing I really want to see is the team handle itself well when Paige is not on the floor. Some of this will happen when Azzi gets her shot back (just a matter of time now), but there has to be more to the game of a non-Paige team than bring the ball down the floor, pass it around, and jack up a 3.

.-.
We prove we can handle pressure defense. We shoot 40-50% from the floor.

Single digit TOs.

Chen is more decisive with the ball/protects it better. Necessary for the coming games to have a strong, veteran, confident ball handler.

I'm looking to see which point guard can play UConn basketball and also score. So far that is lacking.
I would like to see the starters get solid minutes together and produce from start to finish.
A great win against what some here think is a strong opponent.

.-.
Three things, against this Ole Miss team:
  • Win by executing better half-court offense (Ole Miss’ preferred play with transition offense) and unleashing a better press than what Ole Miss faced with USC;
  • Control offensive boards, defend without fouling (Ole Miss goes to the line an absurd number of times), limit turnovers and disrupt Ole Miss’ high assisted FGA ratio;
  • Have the game well in hand to give the youngest players more substantial in-game training experience.
Already priced-in:
  • With enough seasoning, this team is primed to dominate most of its competition.

1. Control the boards against a physical athletic team.
2. Jana and Ice to provide together about 20-25 points and 12-15 boards.
3. Paige to be the best player on the court both on offense and defense.
3a. Azzie to hit at least 3 3-point shots.

( 1 ) I want Paige to score 30+.( 2 ) I want Sarah and Jana to get a double-double. ( 3 ) I want to be so far ahead, the newbies get 10-15 minutes of play. Besides that, A WIN!! GO HUSKIES!!!!

Very good point. What is best mix when Paige not on the floor? I don't think we know yet. Key is; to what extent can Morgan and Allie master the defensive requirements?

1. I would like to see a big line up play for a while. PB, , SS, IB and JE
2. Hit more of the open looks and not rely so much on three point baskets
3. Have a complete second unit play together for a quarter

This team obviously has a ton of talent. The issue I see is they need to be able to put a team on the floor with size and these are the types of situations where that can be toyed with.

1: Jana’s fall in the first half of last night’s game being a non issue going forward.

I didn’t get to start watching the game last night until halftime. Thought Jana was doing okey but not what I was hoping for. This morning I watched the replay and saw that Jana was playing quite well until what appeared to me was her left foot slipped on the floor as she was going in to score. Seemed to land quite hard.

2: as always, as many players getting quality minutes and being productive as possible.

3: everyone to continue getting better.

.-.
1. A win by any means necessary. I don’t really care if it is ugly or low scoring.

2. KK and Shade. I want them to have a good game against a good team, I know they can play well against bad teams. But let’s see it against an elite power 4 team.

3. Azzi. If Azzi is going to shoot a bunch of 3’s. I hope she makes several of them. Only 1-8 so far this year. This is the perfect game to find her shot.

1--- Paige, Azzi, and Sarah take a high number and hit 3's at a high efficiency.
2---- When fouled I want to see Jana hit her f't's at or above 75%.
3--- I want to see Chen have at least a 2-1 assist-to-turnover ratio and lead the team in assists.

1. Jana takes her improved OSU performance several steps higher
2. UConn uses their smothering defense on the Rebels
3. The offense rolls on all cylinders, inside and out

I have a good idea of what Strong and Bueckers' games will look like so I am not going to waste my three choices there...
So:
  • I’d like to see UConn play a complete 40-min game with no let up’s! An entire, start to finish, admirable game. I don’t care if the Huskies are leading by 30; keep the excellence going to the final buzzer.
  • I’d like to see Jana El Alfy get a Double-Double, in 20-mins of play time, with no more than 2 personal fouls, no more than 2 turn overs, and with a 75% success rate from the charity stripe.
  • I’d like to see Azzi Fudd score 15 pts, hitting 50% from the 3-pt line; building a certainty within herself about the skill-set that she possesses.

Against Ole Miss, we are going to have to play a complete 40 minute game. I agree that Azzi will be a key but I just don't know how much we can reasonably expect from her yet. Double figures would go a long way to taking pressure off of Paige.

I’d like:
1) more court time for sharpshooter Allie Ziebell
2) guard— besides Paige- taking ball inside and shooting pull-up jumpers
3) strong rebounding and offense from bigs El Alfy and Brady
