Interesting about speeding up the shot clock- would have to bring the ball up faster. But is it a good idea? Getting the best shot available should result in a higher percentage of made baskets. If UConn speeds it up and maybe takes at least a few rushed shots and misses, or isn’t in position to rebound, and other team takes time to get their best shot, it might not work. Then again, maybe other team isn’t ready yet to defend- look how quickly Azzi and Paige can get off their shot. In that situation, a fast shot might catch the defense off guard.1. Sarah and guards to grab early and often offensive rebounds if available.
2. Play to a 15 second offensive clock. Speed is our game.
3. Hold turnovers to under 10.
bonus
4. Strong defensive rebounding.
I hope that Ice and Aubrey see a lot of time on the court w Sarah. It seems that Jana’s been running out of gas quickly in the past couple of games, prob. due to Ramadan restrictions. Unfortunately, tomorrow’s game will be half+ over by sunset in Spokane. I’m optimistic that she is learning from each game how to manage. (Ramadan ends on Sunday.)Would love to see Ice start and play a primary role. I feel we know Jana's upside but may find the need for a quicker center who can keep the ball out of Beers hands. We may also need to make a higher % of layups and foul shots if the game is close.
