After a punctuation mark performance by Paige for her farewell to Gampel, we now face a tough Oklahoma squad. Here are my top 3 things:

1) Jana and Ice and Aubrey to play solid defense in the post and to avoid foul trouble.

2) A fast start offensively.

3) Defense to lead to offense and run, baby, run.

What are yours?

Agree especially on item 1. My biggest question mark.

No injuries
Refs call a good game - can't have a disparity like against Iowa 27 free throws to 7
Jana and Ice figure something out

I have a slightly different feeling about this game and my 3 wishes are different too.
  1. KK and Ash disrupt OU’s guard play
  2. KK and Ash tie up Beers on rebounds and post entry passes.
  3. KK and Ash score in double figures.
I have confidence the ‘Havoc Twins’ can get this done. And if they do, all the rest will follow.

The real Auriemma formula for winning has always been you win on D and the O determines by how much. The difference between now and the height of Husky dominance is that there that the competitive pool is deeper and the ability to guard us better. But this last 5-6 weeks has been the traditional win with D.

I like "Havoc Twins". I also like "Chaos and Confusion" for them.

1. Defend hard for 40 minutes and cause a lot of turn overs.
2. Limit movement of Beers in the low post.
3. Make it hard for Verhulst to pass and score.

Our highly Efficient offense should take care of the rest.

1. More Azzi Fudd. Sounds like she went off in the second half game 2, and in the first half game 1. I don't mind which one, just want to see those fgas be high. They are just a better team when she's aggressive.
2. Jana step up. This matchup was kinda made for her. She loves being aggressive and physical. Depending on how the refs are she'll give it as much as she takes it but that's a good thing. I think Ice can do her thing as well this game but I'd like Jana to have a good game.
3. Related to this, the team needs to rebound. I'm sure we've seen the stats from ou's last game. 24 offensive rebounds. They missed 48 shots. I'm not a mathematician but it's like for every shot they missed they took another shot. In a game where they shot less than 42 percent they scored 96 points. It's impressive. They won't be able to do that without second chance points.

I am a bit worried about this one. I just think OU is deep and has some big time players. I don't think they are as good as the Ohio State team that upset us but they are closer to them than like the Duke team we played last year in this round.

1. UConn needs a fast, aggressive start like they had vs Arkansas State!
2. The big 3 + 2 more players have to have double figure offenses!
3. I think Geno is going to use his smaller lineup more to keep Beers and other bigs constantly moving!
Agree.. especially with smaller lineup.. Jana & Ice will have considerable trouble with Beers.. if Beers is forced to play Sarah, Sarah takes her to the cleaners.. stay small, spread the court.. play tenacious and disruptive defense..

OK is a team that could cause some damage, especially if UConn is looking past them, which would be a huge mistake. So my 3:
1. As always, no injuries;
2. Play well in the post, keeping Beers from having a monster game
3. Continue the hot shooting

Would love to see Ice start and play a primary role. I feel we know Jana's upside but may find the need for a quicker center who can keep the ball out of Beers hands. We may also need to make a higher % of layups and foul shots if the game is close.

Conndog's point about Aubrey is interesting. She was very capable in the past of going for
20-25 points occasionally. They came from inside but also from mid-range and maybe
an infrequent trey. You had to defend her from all ranges. So far in her return she seems
to actually avoid taking any shot except ones close to the basket. She has been effective in
that role. I'd love to see her get more PT against really elite teams coming up...doing what she has been
doing in her return. We have better outside shooters than Aubrey now...I expect her reluctance to take outside shots
will continue...for good or bad.

1. Ice and Jana give Beers a hard time on defense and offense. I have every confidence in Ice, but Jana needs to be tougher and body up on Beers without fouling BEFORE she gets to her spot.

2. Beers won’t beat UConn by herself. UConn must play smart defense.

3. Caroline’s Marriott commercial.

I may have mentioned that I think this team just has better players than any other team out there. Further more I think that they think that too and with that comes a couple things to guard against.

1. Play the last four games with a sense of urgency. No team can stay with UConn at their best but a couple can certainly end their season if they take a quarter off.
2. Improved post play by Ice and Jana. Beers hasn't been dominant but certainly can be if she able to run free under the basket.
3. KK on the floor quicker if KC is giving up the drive to the basket early in the game.

1. Hold my Beers! Well, not literally...keep Raegan and Payton in check. Most say; "Let someone else beat you", I say; "Don't let anyone else beat you either."
2. All that are nursing injuries are healthier and play well.
3. Have a comfortable enough lead in the 4th quarter to empty the bench.

I think this is the game where Morgan and Yanna will be missed. Their presents would add 10 fouls to give when keeping the ball away from Beers. The obvious no injuries and win are always unspoken on my list but are certainly there.
1. Fast start with tenacious defense. Here's looking at you KK and Ash!,
2. Sarah having a monster game and staying out of foul trouble.
3. Paige and Azzi doing Paige and Azzi stuff.

Great defense for 40 minutes
Block out and Rebound..keep them from getting offensive boards and they can't beat Uconn
Aggressive Paige right from the start
