After a good bounce back win against the Hoyas we now face Iowa State with Audi Crooks, a very talented inside player, as we continue our Top 25 parade, with Juju & Co. looming on Saturday . It will be very informative to see if our bigs can handle Crooks and if we can get consistent scoring from someone other than Paige and Sarah. So, here are my top 3 things:

1) Paige to have the ball on every offensive possession and for her to look to score on every possession so that the defense has to constantly key on her. At least 20 shots this game.

2) Morgan to continue to get more confident in general but to let it spill over into offense so that she looks to score and shoot not only her 3 but also her pull up.

3) Jana and Ice to play solid defense on Crooks, arms vertical, feet moving and box out. Crooks will get her points, we just don't want her setting any records.

I have a lot more as I am sure you do, but what are your top 3?

1 - scoring margin increase every single quarter
2 - Shoot way less than the 23 3's a game they shoot
3 - in the same vein - shoot way more than the 9 ft's a game they average shooting. Sarah has shot 8 ft's the entire year - that is ridiculous.

1. Brady vs Crooks. Both 6-3 and strong, but Crooks relies primarily on strength and Brady much more on finesse. Curious how the staff prepare for Crooks

2. More from Cheli. I wanna see her keep building on her recent growth. UConn may need a big guard to body up to Juju later in the week

3. Relentless defense, possibly to include frequent pressing

I'm just hoping that the game starts closer to 8:30 than to 9:30. There's a game before ours that starts at 6:00, but it shouldn't be a close game and should be over before 8:00. But you never know...

1.Extended periods of small ball... 4 out, 1 in with Sarah at the 5.

2. Play even faster.

3. EVERYONE rebound.

.-.
You’re going to have to be physical with Crooks to keep her out of the paint. We just kept putting a fresh body on her and she just wore out. Keeping the ball out of the paint puts pressure on all of the rest of their players and that’s not how they play.

I would like to see them go big for a change. Crooks can't handle Jana if Jana can play good technical defense. She doesn't have to jump, she doesn't have to reach, all she has to do is be tall and strong on the boards.

1. Jana and Ice (Or Morgan) on the floor
2. Paige running the offense
3. A little bit of an in and out game

( 1 ) I would like to see I- 6' player, 2- 6'2" players , 1-6'3" player and 1-6' 5" player on the floor at the same time.See what our BIGS can really do. ( 2 ) Play pressure offense. ( 3 ) Double, triple Crooks when possible. Good tune-up game before SoCal game. See if experiment worked. GO HUSKIES!!!!!

1. a "W"
2. Another step forward on chemistry and consistency
3. Two 2025 "ALL AMERICANS" doing " _____ - like" and
"_______-like" things. You know who they are!!

Ice double-double, rebounding, and scoring
Ice plays defense with her feet and top, getting cheap fouls
Ice shows why she was in the top 5 in her class

Paige start fast instead of waiting
run run run
should be a ot of fastbeaks..finish the bunnies

Geez people, Fudd. There shouldn't be any other answer.
Dunno. I want Aubrey back really badly. She would give the defense an automatic boost and her rebounding is sorely missed

I'd rather a AA candidate back than a non AA candidate. True our rebounding could be better. We're at a plus 7, should be plus 10. But our 3 pt avg is at 33%. Much rather see that at 38-40%, and I think/hope Fudd can help with that.

Also, the longer Fudd doesn't come back the more likely there's a bigger problem than they are telling us.

I haven't seen ISU play this year, but it's easy to understand stopping Crooks is key to beating them. They've lost Hare for the year which should dampen their perimeter game. My 3 things:

1) Ice and Jana 'limit' Crooks in the paint, improve their shot blocking (especially against ISU's guards) and rebounding #s
2) Our guards putting pressure on ISU's guards, limiting entry passes into Crooks
3) More 2-man play between Paige and Sarah ala Stockton and Malone. Would UCONN's motion, read and react offense allow for that?

Neither Aubrey nor Azzi were All Americans. Azzi, and I want her back too, is a career 38.1% shooter from three, 33.3% this season, probably because her wheels keep getting hurt. She does pull the defense off Paige, and that’s valuable, but Aubrey is a physical presence in the paint that can sky for rebounds and draw fouls from post players. She’s also good for 10 points a game on putbacks from offensive rebounds.

Both were AAs. Azzi was high school player of the year as a sophomore and Audrey was a McDonald’s AA as a senior.

Candidate. I said candidate. Fudd is on the Naismith and Wooden Watch lists. 10 points is good, but I'd rather have 15-20.

And besides, Griffin isn't due back til Jan 1 at the earliest. Fudd on the other hand was said to be out a week. So it's possible she could be back tonight. And if she's not, that's not good. If Griffin isn't back tonight....that's expected.

So who would I rather see tonight? Fudd, like a 100000000......% over Griffin.

Now, I'd like to have both of them healthy and playing up to their ability. BUT if I was only able to have one of them (in some weird, you get to pick, world) I'd pick Fudd every day and twice on Sunday, without even a millisecond of thought.

If we as a team can shoot 50%/40%, I don't care about a rebounding edge.

I'm assuming that the 2 givens are always there - no injuries and UConn wins. so my game 3 are:
1. Paige gets 25+
2. Sarah gets 20+
3. 4 others get 10+ (hopefully Azzi, Shade, Chen/KK, Jana/Ice)

So how about this as a proposition? If we had Aubrey late last year we reach the Finals and give SC a game and a half. Many BYers underestimate what she does out there. Yes it's rebounds and junk but she is also a great defender with great hands and great anticipation. A complete "floor player" in the classical definition of the expression.
