With time now to digest both yesterday's feast and the game against the Rebels it's important to first acknowledge certain facts. The win against a very solid and veteran Ole Miss team, by not folding against an onslaught of scoring and rebounding, is the type of victory that promotes character, confidence and comradery. Azzi had to step up, focus and deliver and man did she ever both on offense with key outside shots, back doors and drives and also by playing wicked defense on their best player. who she shut down So going into a game against a Holy Cross team which is 3-2 with a 26 point loss to BC, here are my top 3 things:

1) We need a solid 3rd quarter with a strong start and the foot on the pedal whether it is by the starters or subs. It's dangerous to be complacent.

2) Ash to have a good offensive night, she will get more opportunities against the Crusaders.

3) Azzi and Paige to continue what they do on the floor together. It's a beautiful thing.

So, I would like to know your thoughts. What are your top 3?

I did watch the Ole Miss replay somewhere on YouTube and that 3rd quarter was scary as he!!. I believe that the quarter started off with a 15-2 Ole Miss run. This should be concerning because Geno has his tradition of using the game's starters to start the 3rd quarter.
I agree that our guys have to start the 3rd quarter of every game as if the score is 0-0. And every one on the floor should be scoring in the first 5 minutes.

What I'd like to see against Holy Cross:
1. Jana to continue to develop and feel comortable
2. Azzi to start and continue development
3. Time for Morgan, Allie and Q to develp further, wtih an emphasis on scoring:

1: less experienced players getting more quality minutes

2: less experienced players getting more quality minutes

3: less experienced players getting more quality minutes

I haven't seen either of the last two games so my 3 things list is forward focused. In researching HC for the Prognosticators contest, I'm seeing a lack of height (2 players @ 6'2") and a slew of shorter 5'8"-ish guards. HC has attempted 133 threes through 6 games and hit 48, good for 36%. Given that brief overview, my 3 things are:

1) Ice, Sarah, and Jana dominate the paint with at least 2 of them recording double-doubles. Also team 10+ blocks
2) Our guards shutting down the perimeter and stopping any penetration and holding HC to 30-35% shooting.
3) A scoring differential that allows Allie, Morgan, Q, and Jana play the entirety of the Q4.

.-.
34+ points in the first quarter, generated by a suffocating trapping full court press

A 10-0 run or more to start the third quarter (for UConn this time!)

Eight threes or more combined from Azzi and Shade

1. Azzi playing more minutes than KK, Ashlynn, or Kaitlin.

2. Jana playing more minutes than Ice.

3. Enough of a blowout for some development playing time for Morgan, Allie and Q.
why? do azzi and jana get a prize for being on the more court than kk, ash, kaitlyn and ice against HOLY CROSS? everybody knows what azzi can do already and jana could benefit from more minutes but she's seen a good amount of live action.

i much rather see q, morgan, and allie take those minutes from the experienced women.

1. Work on all those things necessary for December 12th in South Bend!
2. Azzi to get half her points from three pointers while continuing to get
into game shape and in the full rhythm of the flow.
3. Everyone Eats... but especially the steady progress of ICE, JANA, and Sarah!
GO HUSKIES!

1. Everybody eats
2. A great 3rd quarter
3. Paige, Azzi and Sarah with less than 25 min. each because the game is over before the half and Allie, Morgan and Q can get a lot of min.

.-.
1---- Azzi and Sarah take 5+ 3's each and hit them at a high efficiency.
2--- Chen lead the team in assists and have over a 2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio.
3--- Jana hits her free throws at a 75% or higher %. Until she hits her free throws she plays backup to Ice.

This isnt what we need to win. This is just what I'd personally like to see in addition to us winning.

#1 Morgan get some playing time and score like 10 points.

#2 Shade hit multiple 3's and get some nice drives to the basket.

#3 Azzi and Allie get hot and just see who can hit the most 3's. POW POW POW

1. No injuries
2. Team members becoming more successful shooting "3" s
3. A game where the inside/outside game are effectively used for scoring.

I am spoiled. I remember when Briana Stewart and Morgan were playing for 4 years.

1). Healthy players getting some minutes out there.

2). The same starting five that started the season. Our 2nd unit is solid and only going to get better once AG gets cleared to play.

3). Assertive on both ends of the floor. Dominate and Destroy.

  • 1 = a good connection with Paige and Azzi
  • 2 = Jana making free throws
  • 3 = Ashlynn being the ASH of the previous season

Is the game on SNY? My television shows To Be Announced at the time UConn usually plays.
