I'm not a coach. I'm a fan. But I'm not the kind that loses sleep. I have 11 grandkids; I like to see young people try hard at stuff. And I like to think about things. So here are my 3:

1. More shots. Here's a simple table of what happens when you shoot more shots even at a lower percentage (it's simplified to assuming 2pt attempts):

50 shots >> @ 40% 20 x 2 = 40
50 shots >> @ 45% 22.5 x 2 = 45
50 shots >> @ 50% 25 x 2 = 50

60 shots >> @ 40% 24 x 2 = 48
60 shots >> @ 45% 27 x 2 = 54
60 shots >> @ 50% 30 x 2 = 60

70 shots >> @ 40% 28 x 2 = 56
70 shots >> @ 45% 31.5 x 2 = 63
70 shots >> @ 50% 35 x 2 = 70

2. More offensive rebounds... more possessions; more shots

3. Fewer turnovers... losing possession fewer times; more shots

* UConn has had low shots taken numbers for a while. Hoist 'em up. And grab rebounds.

1. A happy, energetic, team with lots of positive energy
2. A good sized win.
3. Ayanna - when she has the opportunity, putting that ball on the floor and driving to the basket for a layup with authority..!

  • Post halfway up the lane versus at the bottom. Turning baseline there's no room and it's an invitation to a trap. It's no different than dribbling over half-court into the corner.
  • Some of the passes into the post should be quicker with less air under them. Just because the post doesn't secure the pass doesn't mean it's their fault. Some of the passes are causing the post to give up position and reach out to get them.
  • Stop arguing or showing up the ref. You can't win that battle.

Although it's probably too late, AE returning to the early-season form that made her an AA candidate.

Our good shooters (CD and LLS) taking more quality shots, but that's going to require more efficient screening by teammates.

Some little snippet of news that Azzi is closer to returning.

Saw her return in person last year at DePaul, hoping to witness it again tomorrow.

1. Smoother offense with at least 65% of the shots going in.
2. Defend everyone that is not named Morrow. She will get her usual D-D.
3. Win the game with No Injuries.

1. Control the game
2. Maximize possessions - win the rebound battle and limit turnovers.
3. Take lots of shots. Get fouled while making shots.

We win if we exceed our average shooting percentages.

Get ready for "Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah". It's called let's have a numbing conversation about basketball, let's not call or analyze the game. Pre-locate the mute button.
I will hit the mute button and pray for streaming audio! Go Huskies!!

Time to bounce back against DePaul and here are the top 3 things I want to see on Saturday:

1) A win;

2) Don't force a pass, a drive or a shot, not a single one;

3) Lou touches the ball on every single possession.

We just need to finish these next two games with both energy and strength.
Eye contact on passes. No Air Balls. play their best (what ever that may be NOW). I hope ALL available players get in the game ( if you understand what that means)

I'd like to see Nika Muhl break the single season assist record on Saturday. If that happens, I'd be extremely confident of a solid win.
