I'm not a coach. I'm a fan. But I'm not the kind that loses sleep. I have 11 grandkids; I like to see young people try hard at stuff. And I like to think about things. So here are my 3:
1. More shots. Here's a simple table of what happens when you shoot more shots even at a lower percentage (it's simplified to assuming 2pt attempts):
50 shots >> @ 40% 20 x 2 = 40
50 shots >> @ 45% 22.5 x 2 = 45
50 shots >> @ 50% 25 x 2 = 50
60 shots >> @ 40% 24 x 2 = 48
60 shots >> @ 45% 27 x 2 = 54
60 shots >> @ 50% 30 x 2 = 60
70 shots >> @ 40% 28 x 2 = 56
70 shots >> @ 45% 31.5 x 2 = 63
70 shots >> @ 50% 35 x 2 = 70
2. More offensive rebounds... more possessions; more shots
3. Fewer turnovers... losing possession fewer times; more shots
* UConn has had low shots taken numbers for a while. Hoist 'em up. And grab rebounds.
