at North Carolina.

What a way to throw a game out the window.

Seriously...how does Zeller not get a hand in Rivers' face? Did you really not think Duke would chuck up a 3 at a critical point of the game? A Duke team that took 89 3 pointers tonight?

Neither of those teams ae going anywhere, sick and tired of hearing how North Carolina can win it all this year,no chance. They are so incredibly soft and they keep proving it. As much as I dislike Duke and coach K, I wasn't at all upset they won. At least coach K is a great coach, Cryin Roy is the most overrated coach I've ever seen in sports.

.-.
Honestly, the play call by Duke reminded me of the UConn/Pitt game last year. A pick set up top to make the big guy guard the playmaker. Advantage playmaker.

Roy Williams: "Again guys, UNC was not the only team who decided the outcome tonight". Gee, thanks Roy. But you realize your team was up ten with two minutes to go, right? That's a tough one to give up if you don't completely shit your pants.

UNC strikes me as one of those teams who is going to confuse you all year. You don't quite know what you're going to get from game to game.

The Tyler Zeller rebound tip in for Duke, Seph Curry taking like nineteen steps on that three, throwing the ball away, not getting rebounds, missing free throws, Zeller having his own Mghee moment finding himself on a great scorer on the perimeter (minus falling down, of course), UNC making one three pointer, Duke taking 36, etc., etc. yaiyaiayai

Somehow I can't find it in me to laugh much at this, especially with the 'cuse game on the horizon.

Watching it live and seeing Zeller back off, I actually wondered whether not getting "Mcghee'd" was in the back of his mind. Probably not, but I'm a UConn fan so I'm going to assume it was so I can say that Kemba just beat UNC.

Yeah, well, don't worry. A three point shot at the buzzer won't decide that game.

2012 UNC say hello to 2006 UConn, except you are not that good.

Couldn't watch the game for long as I realized I was watching what resembled an NBA more than a college game. I will say one thing we better never complain much about defending the 3 - Duke had 6 3's mid 1st half and Curry comes down and wals into one without anyone getting near him - BANG #7. UNC/Rou's defense is a joke. He gets on the guys and runs to the OOB's line when they get a rebound and motions like mad to PUSH the ball, but where is he when he needs them to buckle down and play some D for once? One of the most overrated coaches ever, by far. Talent galore and little to show for it on his ring fingers!!

Like the 2004 Uconn team, I expect this Unc team to buckle down for the NCAAs. They are that talented. Once the sense of urgency kicks in and they start playing defense, they'll be fine. The regular season in college hoops means squat these days.

It's possible. But they don't have a guard who can play defense--the one they did have got hurt. Marshall is a far worse defender than Gordon and Henson is not as good as Okafor.

Across the board, this team can score but can't get punched in the mouth.

.-.
I only caught the end of the game, but how often do you see one player have so 4 opportunities to put the game out of reach, but fail each time. Now I realize that it was a whole team effort to blow their 10 pt lead with 2 1/2 to go, but w/ about 45 seconds left in the game Zeller manages to miss 1 of 2 FTs twice, tip an air-ball into his own basket and then inexplicably play Rivers for the drive when down by 3 and give up what was all but an uncontested 3, who was 5-9 from 3 at the time.

Now the latter part was simply a defensive blunder by the UNC D. When you're up by 2 and the other teams best shooter has the ball plus the mismatch, at the clock nears 0.00 the big has to close out on the shooter while help quickly comes over to try to disrupt his path if he gets by him. You execute like that at the end of a game, you deserve to lose.

Of note, the missed travel all on Seth Curry who didn't just take 3 steps but 4 when he hit his late 3, didn't help UNC's cause. Is there a team that gets more favorable calls and non-calls than dook?

The only better ending to a UNC-Dook game than one team having a heartbreaking loss, is for both to lose that way, but that's just not possible. :)

That and seeing Roy Williams cry.

Roy looks like he's about to break down.

Bahahaha.

So what he still looks better than Mr. Ratshevski from Duke lol. Softness is a staple of both Duke and North Carolina teams. The difference is Ratshevski is a better coach and a better motivator than Roy Williams.

Theyre definitely good, but they were insanely overrated coming into the season. People were talking undefeated season and theyre better than either of their last title teams? Come on. Zeller and Henson down low are a tough matchup. Barnes is extremely overrated. Hes too slow and methodical and has zero one on one ability. Hes an effective player but not somebody who you need to double team. He'll hit his open jumpers and some free throws and thats about it. Marshall is a great passer but a liability on the defensive end and he cant shoot either. And they have no real SG. UNC is long and deep in the frontcourt but they lack an explosive player and I really wonder who is going to be able to break their man down one on one at the end of a tight game. See last night.

Well, in Zeller's defense, he only has an 8-foot wingspan.

As a commented after the FSU blowout...UNC is very disinterested when it comes to defending the three...when the opponent gets hot, they are in trouble.

That being said, As a UConn fan, I am not laughing at either team...at this point I would be very happy witha 9-9 finish in the Big East.

UNC will make a run in the tourney - count on it. They have the best front court in recent memory and saying Barnes is overrated - I mean, the guy was pegged by everyone as player of the year, so he had no direction to go but down.

I throw that Duke game out the window - Duke lived on three's - we all know how inconsistent that is and to me, that's a bit of an artificial win. UNC physically dominated them in stretches. Sure, they got sloppy at points and the defense was lax, but I expect that to be tightened up. Once tourney arrives, the refereeing in the tourney is very condusive to the ACC/UNC style and rotations are shortened.

What the last play showed is that NC's coaching is terrible. They should have been all about - "take away the 3." Zeller himself should have known better than to be guarding against the blow-by, particularly, and I mean PARTICULARLY, when the game clock got under about 5 seconds, when it becomes very difficult to drive and come up with a high percentage shot when you're starting from 5 feet behind the 3 line. Gotta have the defensive awareness to move toward the guy with the ball as time runs out.

How about that FSU game, also out the window? ;)

I'm not sure what you mean by recent memory? The Gators had a better frontcourt 06-07, UConn (03-07) before that did as well. I'm not sure I wouldn't put UK or KU 09-10 teams above them also. They may have the best frontcourt since then though, but that's only 1 year.
