Tomorrow’s AP Ranking

Hmmm. I don't think we jump AZ. They'll go to 4.

AZ, Uconn, Iowa St, Purdue, Florida, Nebraska, Gonzaga

Va in the top Ten would be hysterical. UF is back to being seen as a top 5-7 team in the country. I think Texas Tech, Kansas and maybe even Arkansas are good enough to be considered over a couple of those teams.
Two losses in one week and their overall record is worse than ours. Look at UVA's record though and in the ACC they get more cred. Kansas split win/loss so tough to predict. Texas Tech would have to rise a lot. IDK this mirrors time travel to like the Hulk said either all of this is crazy or none of it is.

Arizona did beat us, albeit without Reed and Mullins.

That one will be interesting, especially after our game against GTown. They did lose at KU and we beat them.

I could see us slipping to 2 in the East as well. CBS just revealed their brackets during halftime of the Illinois game and they have us as the 2 in the West with AZ..........
I’ll take it. We’re a 2 right now no argument. We can still play ourselves into a 1 but man we gotta play better….

Arizona falls from 1 with 2 losses and likely moves to 5 at 23-2.

1. Michigan 24-1
2. Houston 23-2
3. Duke 23-2
4. UConn 24-2
5. Arizona 23-2
6. Iowa St 22-3
7. Gonzaga 25-2
8. Virginia 22-3
9. Nebraska 22-3
10. Purdue 21-4

Guesses really, since so many lost swings could be big when their W-L is up there. St. Louis and Miami OH have not played a ranked team all year. I think Miami of Ohio's SOS is like 300+ so predictive metrics go out the window if they play a top 5 defensive team. But for rankings theatre each Monday it makes for fun chat.
This is what I think too

.-.
Stuffing us in the West, as we are clearly the best 2 seed, would mean they now have Arizona as the last 1? That would be quite the , but the West has always worked for us.
Again, I find all this weird. If they have Arizona as the 4th seed, that's recency bias. Anyone looking at Houston's schedule versus Arizona's would see a clear difference.

Arizona: losses to Kansas and Texas Tech.
Houston: losses to Tennessee and Texas Tech.

Better losses? Arizona

Arizona: wins over UConn, Florida, BYU, Auburn, Alabama, UCLA
Houston: wins over BYU, Arkansas, Texas Tech, Auburn

Better wins? Arizona.

I don't care what the metrics say. Sometimes you have to actually look at how the teams did against who hey played.

This no longer applies. Their two losses are worse than our two losses. The StJ team I watched would beat the pants off both Kansas and TT right now. They are a preseason top ten team finally playing like one.

.-.
The correct ranking of the best teams to date is:

Michigan
Duke
UConn
Arizona

After that it doesn't matter. Anyone who doesn't agree is wrong.

Houston has to be up there, they have been excellent all year long, no worse than anyone but Michigan IMO.

Gonna disagree with that

Not sure how you put us ahead of AZ since we lost head to head...even if it was months ago

Since the regional isnt it Tucson, I'm good with that. We've done ok coming out of the west

We were down two starters and it was a close finish. At least that's been part of the talking points for the past three months. 😉

Their schedule doesn't rank with either Arizona's or ours or Duke for that matter. They've had an easier road than all 3 other teams.

It’s 5.

Not fun but I see it. AZ has the head to head to stay above and poll inertia was going to keep Houston and Duke ahead of us. Take care of business this week and see if these other teams pick up some Ls.

Edit:

This is some chicanery, but say Iowa St beats Houston, Purdue beats Michigan, Houston beats Arizona, and Michigan beats Duke. And, most importantly, we take care of business in two very tricky games. Are we number one??

Funny, 24-2 > 23-2 and Kansas with 6 losses is #8? While Nebraska played a lighter schedule, 22-3 >>>> 19-6!!

5 more days until 1 plays 3. Need Michigan so Duke falls as if Duke wins, Michigan will still be above us.

Lafayette, do you have your greater than and less than signs mixed up? Don't understand your reasoning. Might be me.

We beat KU who just beat Zona for those that subscribe to the transitive reasoning

I do. 24-2 (UConn) is greater than 23-2 (3 teams above us) and 22-3 (Nebraska) is much greater than 19-6 (Kansas). Just going by the records of course.
