Here we go. Some light in very odd times.

The roster for 2021-2022 is amazing, with hopefully Azzi as number 14. Over the last few years UConn has had very little depth, so the contrast is particularly stark.

It projects as the deepest UConn team ever, IMHO. Even deeper than 2000 or 2002.

I was at the Cincinnati game at Mohegan Sun on March 9, a little over three weeks ago but for obvious reasons it feels much longer. We had nine players, including Batouly who apparently could only go for a few minutes or so. Cincy had 13 or 14 players. Not uncommon. It will be nice to have big numbers for a change. Nice problem for Geno.

It will be interesting to see how Geno handles minutes for that group.
just 1 more prized 2021 committ, and UConn will be bad for women’s basketball...again

Who would you like that additional prized committ to be?

If you add Fudd, that's 14 players in 2021-22. Has Geno ever had a team that large? Geno must be accounting for the changing landscape of WCBB.
There is no guarantee that Evina stays to play for 2 years, so the numbers might be 1 lower.

Geno had 12 for the Olympics and World Cup. At least 10 of them got real playing time.

See post #6, just slightly above yours. That's Azzi showing the whole world how to shoot the ball.

You can see Boston and Horston in the background getting ready to celebrate.

I agree, I think if Westbrook has a big year she will most likely head to the WNBA and forgo her final year.

We will need Piath to get up to speed quickly. Other then that this team is almost invicible. At some point it will be and the days of beating top teams by 20+ will be back. Possible a group that could break the 111 game win streak. A great passing team, wtih unbelieveable outside shooters, with quickness and size. Potential to score alot of points in just a few minutes and very tuff to defend. Boy another Dream Team. Im thinkin how man first team AAs will we have and Geno will need more room on the wall for many more banners. I am so excited.

Hard to imagine that you can keep that 21-22 group intact.

It'll be interesting for sure. 2020-2021 we are an incredibly young team. With the departure of Walker we only have four returning players with any Uconn experience. There will be plenty of minutes to go around for the 5 freshman and Westbrook. I think this team will lack the experience to win a NC.

2021-2022 sees all 10 players return & adds 3+ more. Lots of competition for minutes, but should be a group primed to win the NC. The returning 10 will have had a full season to develop chemistry.

2008-2009 had 14, but Buck and McCormick redshirted
2007-2008 had 14
2000-2001 had 16 but Walters was injured and Battle and Moore redshirted
1998-1999 had 15 but Rigby was a redshirt and Bird got injured
1997-1998 had 14
1995-1996 had 15

Are you forgetting the talent that SC, Oregon, Maryland, and Baylor has. It will be very, very hard for a team to win 111 straight games anymore with so much very good talent spread over so many teams. UConn won't be the only ultra talented team this time around.

If you really want to beat SC and Baylor you need at least two 6-5 widebodies in the game to get physical.

@BRS24 for the next update could you please extend the rows to show 15 is the scholarship limit so as to avoid the confusion in this thread.

You got it!

He's talking class of '21 and referring to Fudd. Betts and Nnaji are class of '22.
And I am implying UCONN does not need another 2021 recruit even if it is Fudd. Who will not select UCONN, since it is loaded with top flight guards. Fudd would have to wait at least two years to start. In any cae she will want her own show, not play second fiddle on the Paige Bueckers show.

You mean the Fudd that is the Gatorade National HS player of the year when she was a sophomore? that one? Not a chance she sits at least 2 years before she starts. Uconn may not need Fudd, but Uconn wants Fudd, that's for sure :p

Your words suggest that you know for certain that she "will not select Uconn," and "will want her own show . . . ." Those are possible" considerations for her, but I haven't seen anyone on the Boneyard claim that they have first-hand, inside info on the young woman's current mindset. This is ˆlikely" to be a decision we will have to wait for, fingers crossed, and it will likely come when she is ready.

Lots of players would feel that way. Fudd doesn't appear to be one. Like Bueckers, Fudd wants to play at the highest level and with the best players. Kids get their ideas from their parents, and Fudd's are both coaches and can see that the surest path to Fudd's basketball future lies through Storrs, playing with the best point guard around. Fudd may not gab like Bueckers but she won't be second fiddle on the court. It'll be a sweet duet.
