Oh, there's many ways an opposing coach would take Kelly first. The defense, the hustle, the USUALLY brilliant passes, the defense, the anticipation.
I agree she has defense, hustle, (passing? eh, she's ok). I understand she works well in our system with what she's good at. And I agree almost any coach in America would take her. But very, very few if any would take her first if offered anyone from our team. Hard workers are great (and by the way Tiff, Bri, Dolson, KML are also very hard workers too), but coaches are not going to pass over Naismith watch players, potential AA players to take her first. Sorry, just wouldn't happen.

I sentence you to just ONE game of Kelly as the opponent. Meyers 7, that should do it, but i bet you won't admit it. :)

Won't admit a great college athlete can take me? A 30 year older out of shape guy with bad knees who never could jump? Yea, pretty sure she could take me 1v1. And it wouldn't even be close.

I don't know how many coaches would take Kelly over some of our other players; but as I pointed out a few weeks ago when explaining the idea of BRATS, Kelly is averaging double figure BRATS at 10.4 a game. She leads the Huskies in that department. Tif is second at 9.2 and Kaleena third at 7.3.
Maybe Billy Bean would take her first.

No, I don't have an "in." But it is well known that Geno tends to break players down and then build them back up. Surely you cannot argue that statement. An example of the comments that he never gave Charles a hug until the end of her career. Yes, it worked with her in the long run. I was just wondering if this group possibly doesn't respond to his motivational tactics as well as past players and if he may need to use a different approach with them.
Geno doesn't use cookie-cutter approach to his teams. He takes into account how experienced it is, the temperament of the players and their abilities. A few years ago he said on his TV show that he had to be more patient his team at the time, that they didn't react well to yelling, etc. One of Geno's greatest strengths is his ability to "read" his teams and gear his approach and his coaching to get the most out of them. I don't think you'd be aware of this because you don't see his shows on our local public TV.

And, btw, I guarantee Geno takes a different approach with BGriner than he does with the pro players on the USA National team.

You must have an "in" to know that he deals with BG differently...

I'm very interested in hearing the ways that BG is handled differently.
