This is becoming a weekly tradition that I couldn't enjoy more. And I'm going to turn this comment in to a weekly tradition after each one:

It couldn't happen to a "better" team.

Duke will be out and rightly so. TN however; I am not so sure. They might take Duke's stop at 22 but I doubt they will be out for Monday's poll. Now.... After they presumably get stomped by ND Monday night they should be out for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't. All that "talent" weighs heavy with the committee even if it hasn't really shown up.

Gonna be a very dismal presser. If I was Holly I would just skip it and go home.

Did you see her head down as she was shaking hands after the game? I like Holly, but she's in over her head and feeling the pressure.

The LVs are 11-5, headed to a 24-10 season and a 5 seed.

I could see them go 6 - 7 the rest of the way for a 17-12 record. Throw in an SEC tournament loss and at 17 - 13 they'll be luck to pick up an 11 seed.

Plus TENN could lose 3 of their next 4 games if I saw the Sched correctly. Among the next 4 are Notre Dame , at Kentucky and then South Carolina. Could be some sad times on Knoxville.

They don't play the Gamecocks until 2/15.

You really don't know what you're going to get with this Tennessee team.. 1 game their offense looks sharp... then they lose to Arkansas the next game.

Arkansas is probably a bottom 2 or 3 team in the SEC this year, in case anybody needed perspective on this lost.

At this point I'm not sure there are 25 teams good enough to be in the top 25:(
Hallelujah.... Can I get an amen? More importantly there isn't enough SEC teams for the committee to shuffle in & out this year. They may actually have to watch some good mid-majors play. Heck. Give them a shot in the Top 25. Couldn't be any worse than what TN is putting on the floor. I'm also not sold on Texas A&M either.

Interesting stat from Debbie Antonelli: Duke had won 152 consecutive games versus unranked teams at home while NC State had not won at Cameron in 20 years. But ...last night; Pack 65 Duke 62. Ouch! This one had to hurt big time for the Blue Devil home crowd faithful.

FWIW I think there is way more parity in WCBB than ever before. Remember in the NCAA's - in the sweet 16 it was mostly 1-4 seeds and it was rare when a lower seed sprung an upset. I have a feeling we will be seeing lots of upsets in the NCAA's this year - and I wouldn't be surprised to see a few non-1 seeds at the final 4...

You're absolutely correct, but it's not good parity. It just doesn't seem that there's enough talent to spread around to create overall quality in WCBB yet.

I think there are talented players but how many coaches coach EVERY game like it was UConn? It has been said, only UConn can beat UConn, that is because good or bag they play every minute all out. Geno and CD are the best at what they do, thankfully they are ours.

I am guessing it was a double upset for Gonzaga as both the women and men lost to BYU. Both the WBB and MBB Bulldogs had 10 point leads in the 2nd half.
Spokane isnt a happy town today.

Or is it: we are theirs? :)

Duke and Tennessee could both finish the season with double digit losses and also multiple losses to unranked teams. Which school will be the first to make a coaching ?

Which one might not make the NCAA tournament?

If I were a betting person I'd wager both make the field, but if things played out according to their current RPI's Tennessee would finish 18-11 and somewhere between 5th - 10th in the SEC. One more unexpected loss, say Georgia or Vanderbilt, they could finish 17-12 and probably no better than 7th in the SEC with an RPI almost certainly in the 50's. With a 1st round loss in the SEC tournament would that get them a bid? Probably, but I think that scenario, which is quite likely, shows just how precarious their situation is, particularly when you look at their two 2 pt. wins over Syracuse and Chattanooga and a 3 pt. win over Oregon St. That's all that stands between Tennessee and an 8-8 record. That's really stunning!

Duke's circumstances appear to be much less dire and they have more room for unexpected hiccups. If their remaining schedule played out based on relative RPI's they'd finish with a record of 21-9 and 10-6 in the ACC. Even with 1 or 2 unexpected losses it's hard to imagine that not being good enough.
