ok, I'll admit that my guilty pleasure is to go read the Summit after TN loses (which happens often ;) ) or after UConn wins (which happens basically all the time :)) as what some of them write is something else....
More fun is reading The Summitt during up and down games. They eat their young and regurgitate them depending on lead shifts.

"have you seen the little piggies, crawling in the dirt.
and for all the little piggies, life is getting worse"

one of the most..memorable sounds ..I've heard in my entire life was when a pen full of piglets - maybe 3 dozen or so - all decided to freak-out and shriek at once. There's a sound that Steven Spielberg can use in a movie!

I have been around many pig farms in PA and you are absolutely right, pinot. It is a shrill a piercing sound and frantic as imaginable.

And that was sarcasm from DD which is his natural state.

It's a parody and a fairly clever one, too.
Actually a cut and paste, only slightly modified.

You wouldn't know that, Nan, having better taste in reading material than some of us.

Leading to the observation that, when one's actual posts are taken as parody, one is REALLY typecast.

I think it's hysterical that Nan thought I actually wrote that post. Even my warped mind couldn't come up with that amazing stuff.

Dafinately wrong, ya big maroon! It's a shan, I tell you, a dang shan!

(Obviously dating myself...since no one else will! *rim shot*)

This thread doesn't work for posters like me who visit the Nether Regions once in 3 months.

Is this your travel guide, across the river Styx...?

I will take the shrill piecing sound over the gawd-awful smell that comes from them there pig farms. I used to pass by a huge pig lot on my way between my home and college (Nebraska and South Dakota). On days when the wind was just right, you could start to smell the place three miles out. Only smell worse on that trip was passing by the Hormel slaughterhouse/meat packing plant in Sioux City, IA, right next to I-29. There are some things I miss about life on the Great Plains, but those two smells are not among them.

getting back to that, i grew up in Glastonbury and there were a good number of farms around town - mostly cow and horse farms. for some reason i really liked the smell of the cows mixed with the hay, corn, silos and the other farm smells.

but i also recall the smell of pigs and chickens. me likey not so much...

So you don't like fresh air ;-)
Yes, there is a strong wind near pig farms a former parishioner lost her sense of smell from a complication during pregnancy and considered it a great gift.

pigs have a strong smell but chicken manure is absolutely rancid.

Only on the Boneyard could a thread start out talking about You Know Where and end up talking about chicken manure. Or it is just a logical extention of the same topic?

I haven't read checkerboard square is years, is Shan still around?

I hate to waste a good memory, but anyone (like me) who spent time serving in the Army in Germany back in the day could never forget the aromas generated by the "honey wagons" that fertilized farmlands the old fashioned way. Unforgettable.

So, I need to vent for a minute or two. I just got off the phone with a good friend of mine who lives in Tennessee for work (we went to UCONN together). He and his wife love the game of basketball and prefer to watch WCBB. They have even attended a few LV games just to watch the game. He told me this story of how he walked into a coffee shop and while waiting in line he overheard a conversation from a few LV fans talking about the UCONN/UNC game. He could not believe his ears when he heard them say the UCONN was "overrated, yet again" and how "UCONN has no team chemistry". The only explanation I have is that these people are delusional (not all LV fans think this way-just want to get that out there). But, c'mon REALLY?!

Of course I had to see how UCONN is matching up statistically against all of Div. 1 WCBB. This is what I found ( I know this info has been posted on previous posts)...

ASSIST TURNOVER RATIO -Uconn 1.53 ranked #1
ASSISTS PER GAME - Uconn 21.0 ranked #1
FIELD GOAL % - Uconn 48.9 ranked #1
FIELD GOAL # DEFENSE - Uconn 30.7 tied ranked #3
SCORING MARGIN - Uconn 35.4 ranked #1
SCORING DEFENSE - Uconn 44.7 ranked #1
REBOUND MARGIN - Uconn 11.5 ranked #8 (playing with a 4-5 guard line up)
...Anyway you get my point! Gee, UCONN sure is overrated, has no team chemistry...we stink! ;)

No, you were right on the mark with your first impression. Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

I saw the same no chemistry crap on the Summitt. I'm not sure where that's coming from. I'll just attribute it to BSS (Ball State Syndrome) and let it slide.

.-.
TN is like another planet. Nothing seems to add up to anything but TN. It really blows my mind reading their board and the way they think. Just when you think you everything falls into place, they have another idea completely out of character. No matter how poorly they play, TN fans cant see it. Its only a matter of time before they self distruct and that aint far away.

BSS!!!

So did your friend say anything to the delusionites?

He actually responded with "Maybe you should watch a UCONN game first and then watch Tennessee play then reevaluate your statement." Needless to say they just grinned.

UConn has 362 assists against 518 FGs heading into this Cincy game.

Tennessee has 288 assists against 478 FGs.

The difference of 69.9% versus 60% doesn't take into account the number of UConn fast break buckets that originated from a great outlet pass that didn't count as an assist.

In short: shut up.
