The worst game ever played (in progress)

Northern Illinois trails Eastern Michigan 28-13....with eight minutes left in the game.

NIU trailed 18-4 at halftime and was 3-42 (0-24 3FG) from the field the last time I was able to check.

Interesting to note that they have set the modern record for futility with their four-point first half - they broke the record they set in December with a five-point half. This will be the seventh time they've failed to score 50 points in a game this season.

I believe they have some issues on offense - like the ball and the basket. And trying to make the former meet with the latter.

(Edit - and it is all over. EMU wins 42-25.)

One good thing came out of this game, and it's the fantastic recap posted by the NIU athletic department. If the game set basketball back 50 years, this story sets sports writing back about 100.

But it's entirely worth it...
