What I find amusing is their frequent attribution of Geno's success to Pat Summitt.

Amusing? That's laugh out loud funny! Delusional. She has less than nothing to do with it. Don't forget after that back-door fest, Geno had PHS running to John Wooden. PHS never once had Geno running to Cathy Rush.

DobbsRover2 - Your Meighann Simmons reference is hilarious! She really has been a "live by the sword - die by the sword player throughout her career".... Under Geno, she would be spending much time on the bench...while learning to play the guard position....and not being such a "me-first" player......

Bestiarius - yes this is so true.... the LV pack - though there are sane minds in there also - has a large contingent that attributes any measure of Geno's success to Pat's being. If Pat weren't there to start everything, there would be no Geno..... Give Pat her credit, no question, but Geno has come along, and matched Pat and is doing it better..... I think as we stand today he has as many NCs in 10 less years as a head coach. That is impressive.

I am amused by their claim, also, that the history of womens basketball is rooted in Tenn. .... What about the Connecticut and Smith College teams the turn of the century, when the state of TN didn't have running water?

TN fans are passionate, and I have had good times with them at the NCAAs .... it is just those folks on the Summit who are a bit wacky.....

And speaking of UTenn, ever since that kind of subscription-only switch by the Summitt, following the far more limited but less demented commentary on the VolNation's Lady Vols forum is actually pretty good. Now of course almost all the threads are on the softball team's run in the CWS, but the snaller group of commentators now seem to be a fairly informed and thoughtful group, though there are certainly still some nasty threads posted in the now more open environment. In one of the final big threads about the WCBB team's 2013 results, there was one comment two days before the NC game that would surely have been considered an anti-mojo killer for the Vols' hopes of remaining alone atop the national titles list:

"Last I checked, Geno only has 7 titles, not 8."

I'd forgotten that UTenn started the year rated 4th or 5th in the SEC, so last year was a pretty good run. But if you ever are confronted in a dark alley by a hostile group of Vol fans, just yell "Meighann Simmons" and make a run for it while the mob tears itself apart.

Tenn will never get better until they can get guards who can create chemistry. You cant have gunners, or quick shots taken by your guards. Everything has to happen within the flow of the game and too many times over the past several years Tenn has done just that. Leadership is a funny thing. You need to get everybody involved. Tenn guards need to learn how to do that.

Tennessee will have Carter back. She will along with Massengale, Reynolds that's three who can play point guard. I'm sure Holly will use a three guard lineup at times this year.

I think it is so ironic that their offering to play us in the 90s launched us, and then they unilaterally pulled the plug on things..... and they are the ones who stand to benefit from the series existence..... not us...... they are just hurting themselves.....

Yeah, Geno's stats when he is done can be put up against anyone else's stats..... he will be the standard-bearer for a long time.
