It will take 3 years to repair GDL's damage to the offense. Don't expect overnight results.

A couple of play calls would have won 7 games this year and maybe as many as 9 with some different use of personnel (less tight sets with 160 lb RB). Expect improvement by Whitmer or new QB starting. Next coach will realize don't have Alabama type OL talent and set them up to be successful. If GDL was a NBA coach he would have used Wilt as a point guard and posted up Spud Webb.

Thanks for the laugh I could use it here in the ER. Don't get excited I'll be fine

i didn't hear it anywhere. why else would a guy come here for 1 year to be OC? he must think he has some type of shot to earn HC.

Edsall took the Ga Tech DC position because he was told if he wanted to be a head coach he needed to be a coordinator first. That said, why do you assume Weist is only here for one year?

He's assuming Pasqualoni will be fired in a year, and much of the staff with him. That's a bad assumption because the only major problem has been GDL/the offense. Don Brown's defense was excellent and recruiting has been fairly good, will be better with a more recruiting-committed DC and a more exciting/player-friendly OC and some success on the field, especially if conference realignment works out.

Wow. If you read the posting for the job, they are looking for an OC with specific experience running a No Huddle Offense.

It seems odd the position is OC/WR specialist. If you're looking for an OC why limit it to guys with seven years coaching WRs?

Yea, it looks like they basically created this as a formality around Weist qualifications.

If he got the Cinci O to play like they did against Duke in that very limited time, I am very happy about this hire. PP sees the writing on the wall and is trying to save his ass.

Because we really need help in that area? That's what I'm assuming...

I agree, it's written for Wiest. They are working within / gaming the state hiring process.

If Wiest will handle WRs, where does Cersosimo move?

From footballscoop.Com:

UConn: Sources tell us to look for two new additions to the staff soon enough. Will update...

How cryptic...

Exactly correct. They only post the job because they have to. The candidate has already been interviewed and selected and so the job announcement fits the candidate's background. That's how it's done for big positions. That isn't limited to football hires, trust me.

Oddly specific. Does anyone know if the targeted recruiting area below is Weist's experience?

Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree; seven years of full-time experience as a Wide Receiver Coach at the FBS or professional level; prior experience as an Offensive Coordinator or Pass Game Coordinator in a No Huddle System at the FBS or professional level; prior experience in the evaluation and recruitment process of qualified football athletes with recruiting experience in the following states/areas: New Jersey, Philadelphia, North and South Florida, Boston, Dallas and Houston.

Well the inclusion of Dallas and Houston is telling re: what the administration thinks of our future conference situation.

Not so coincidentally, recruiting in the Lonestar State again was mentioned in the past year (before latest ACC raid). Yes, it is a reversal of ex-HCRE's decision to limit Texas recruiting.

Yea, not reading into that, PP has wanted to recruit Texas from Day 1. As we have seen on our team, and as others have seen in the Texas area (TCU), the "leftovers" in Texas and Florida can turn out to be pretty good. Way too much talent in those states to get evaluated properly.

This is one of those job postings that you have only ONE candidate for the position. You are forced by CT State law to post ... and you specifically tailor the credentials to the guy who is going to get the job. Clever.

Because TCU was supposed to join the Big East.

I find Weist an odd choice if this turns out to be accurate, and potenitally troubling. He is 7-8 years removed from being an OC. If this is P's and GDL's ploy to essentially keep GDL in charge of the offense I will be one very vocal and critical fan. I sincerely hope this is not the case.

That all said, Cinci has had very solid offenses since joining the Big East and every year they seem to have a great group of receivers. So who knows.

Would love to hear that Foley is back in charge of the OL and GDL will be filling water bottles..........

I think it's more telling as the exact qualifications of Weist more than anything. It's a job posting for him specifically. He had those areas at some point in his career.

Got a sweet looking Missus (sorry a litle stalky going onto his facebook page).
Seriously? It's shocking, just shocking, to me that you would make this post... without a link.
