With all due respect......you have no idea what you're talking about.

Now back to the hoop game..........

does our coaching staff know what they are saying/doing? whats worse for u, me on the BY or P on the field?
its not fun when crazy ppl ruin something u like hugh?

WTF are you even saying? You made no less than 20 threads on this board demanding that GDL get canned, and now you're questioning why we need to make a change?

How about this, Pasqualoni is not an offensive coach and he really wants to keep his job, so he's going to go in a different direction from what has failed, with perhaps a little nudging from Warde.

yea i want gld gone. but i'm not in charge. the guy who is sugested he can stay. so what am i supose to do? gdl is still here so that means we are paying him scrilla. your telling me we are willing to pay him and a new OC? but we wern't willing to buyout the current staff and just get on with life? i think in terms of money and winning. i want the most money, best buys, great deals and so on. i want to win on the field, i want to win the admissions greatest stats awards in those stupid college books. every kid that gets into uconn and other schools and has to pick? i want to win that kid. money and winning. i think some in storrs dont think like that and thats why things suck.

in response to HFD's posts, P probably brought in a new OC to try to win more games. I know you see it as a one year assignment (and I kind of do to), but I doubt P sees it that way. Just because some fans see next year as a lost cause doesn't mean the coaches are resigned to just killing time until they're fired. GDL seems to have done a great job of coaching the TEs but my fear at this point, is that even if we bring in a new OC that GDL stays on as Oline coach. We might be overly optimistic assuming he'll coach TEs or elsewhere altogether.

I think (hope) that the goal is still for GDL to find a home in the NFL somewhere. It makes the most sense for everyone involved.

Weist coming makes sense as well. It's a promotion for him. There's minimal downside- like UConn SG said, there's just about nowhere to go but up. Even if just for a year- he'll have more opportunities by busting his tail here as OC, be that at UConn some day or another school.

If GDL is still around waving his cane, it makes less sense, but I still think it's a net positive for all involved. Except GDL which I'm fine with.

If P and Weist win 6 games next year and in general the team looks to be improving there is a good chance they get another year. 7 wins and they are definitely coming back, unless Warde has a star coach in his pocket which is doubtful.

It will take 3 years to repair GDL's damage to the offense. Don't expect overnight results.

A couple of play calls would have won 7 games this year and maybe as many as 9 with some different use of personnel (less tight sets with 160 lb RB). Expect improvement by Whitmer or new QB starting. Next coach will realize don't have Alabama type OL talent and set them up to be successful. If GDL was a NBA coach he would have used Wilt as a point guard and posted up Spud Webb.

i didn't hear it anywhere. why else would a guy come here for 1 year to be OC? he must think he has some type of shot to earn HC.

Edsall took the Ga Tech DC position because he was told if he wanted to be a head coach he needed to be a coordinator first. That said, why do you assume Weist is only here for one year?

He's assuming Pasqualoni will be fired in a year, and much of the staff with him. That's a bad assumption because the only major problem has been GDL/the offense. Don Brown's defense was excellent and recruiting has been fairly good, will be better with a more recruiting-committed DC and a more exciting/player-friendly OC and some success on the field, especially if conference realignment works out.

Wow. If you read the posting for the job, they are looking for an OC with specific experience running a No Huddle Offense.

It seems odd the position is OC/WR specialist. If you're looking for an OC why limit it to guys with seven years coaching WRs?

Yea, it looks like they basically created this as a formality around Weist qualifications.

If he got the Cinci O to play like they did against Duke in that very limited time, I am very happy about this hire. PP sees the writing on the wall and is trying to save his ass.

Because we really need help in that area? That's what I'm assuming...

I agree, it's written for Wiest. They are working within / gaming the state hiring process.

If Wiest will handle WRs, where does Cersosimo move?

From footballscoop.Com:

UConn: Sources tell us to look for two new additions to the staff soon enough. Will update...

How cryptic...

Exactly correct. They only post the job because they have to. The candidate has already been interviewed and selected and so the job announcement fits the candidate's background. That's how it's done for big positions. That isn't limited to football hires, trust me.

Oddly specific. Does anyone know if the targeted recruiting area below is Weist's experience?

Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree; seven years of full-time experience as a Wide Receiver Coach at the FBS or professional level; prior experience as an Offensive Coordinator or Pass Game Coordinator in a No Huddle System at the FBS or professional level; prior experience in the evaluation and recruitment process of qualified football athletes with recruiting experience in the following states/areas: New Jersey, Philadelphia, North and South Florida, Boston, Dallas and Houston.

Well the inclusion of Dallas and Houston is telling re: what the administration thinks of our future conference situation.
