The Triple Double

The score after 3 quarters was 93-33. 93-33 in a Championship game. KLS played the 2nd most minutes (28). WTF do you want?

He doesn't leave players in specifically to break records, but also doesn't take them out to specifically keep them from breaking records. (I don't think he keeps that close of track of that stuff, to really think about doing it.)

And he did allow Moore to continue to destroy Syracuse long after the game had been decided in that revenge game.
No he calls a time out to let a player that is not able to play come into a game, walk up to the basket. The clock starts, they get the ball, make the shot then opposing team calls time out to let the player leave the court. That was for Sales to get the all time scoring record, which has been passed by others, but they didn't get the assistance.

I can only think of one time Geno put a player on the floor in order to get her a stat line achievement, and it was in the closing moments of a blowout win in an NC game.
I guess you're not talking about something like Nykesha Sales getting the all-time scoring record

Nykesha Sales,

Yeah, I doubt very much he regrets doing that! A little criticism for doing something special for a great kid that did not affect any non UConn records? I’ll take that anytime.
A little criticism? You've got to be kidding me. It was a national explosion. I doubt there was any media across the country that didn't carry a negative story. People who didn't even know women played basketball all had an opinion, and it was all negative. Very, very negative. Not a heck of a lot of people had anything good to say about "doing something special for a great kid".

I have long thought that he does. Too many instances of players removed after getting close.
Nykesha is 8th in career points at UConn and Paige is on her heels too

I’m surprised to have to explain this. Does no one remember Briana Pulido?
You obviously weren't around for Nykesha Sales. Two completely different scenarios. Sales was definitely on the floor for a stat line achievement. Pulido was on the floor as part of a mop up crew in a blowout that allowed them and her to be part of a NC game, not a stat. That she made a shot was an unforeseen bonus.

Ask and ye shall receive. This is from this year's media guide:

Thanks, BRS24. Interesting records.
What is more interesting is that with the exception of Aaliyah Edwards in 2023-24 how old these records are. It's like we hit a wall or was there other contributing factors since circa 2016-17, coincidentally near the last NC, as have been mentioned previously about not letting players in a game longer and thereby eliminating or reducing the chances for achieving e D-D or a T-D.

Make up your mind what you are talking about. You keep switching back and forth between Sales breaking Bascom's record and Sales 46 point game record. Those are two different things.

And IIRC, he didn't call timeout to get Sales into the game. She started at the tip. Waited down by the basket. Then they allowed Nova to score so the game basically started at 2-2.

The others didn't get a career ending injury 1 point away from breaking a UCONN record. And there are only 2 "others" who broke the all time scoring record. Charles and Moore.

I’m surprised to have to explain this. Does no one remember Briana Pulido?
And what record did she break?

You’re kidding, right? My apologies for failing so badly to make a joke on this board. I’ll try again: Nykesha who?

These records certainly reflect the glory days of 11 NC's. Would be interesting to see the AMP (average minutes played per game) in achieving these points. Not to beat the dying horse here, an even or close to allocation of minutes across a roster with limitations of minutes of all players (not to mention being sidelined with an injury) can certainly reduce the opportunity in achieving high career points and/or other career stats.

LOL, Come on Mr. Dog. You know that humor and sarcasm work poorly here on the BY. Especially the subtle stuff.

Saying a triple double is a hollow stat line is a moronic take
Something I see you know a lot about. A triple double is great in a close game. It means nothing if you use a blowout to get it. That's as simple as I can make it for you.
