Halftime score: Louisville 32, BC 14

UL up by 23 with that alley-oop BC looks like they have given up

79-47 final..Louisville wins and covers...BC id fielding the hoops version of SMU's football team after they came back from the death penalty

BC has a really tough nut to crack as far as rebuilding a fan base. The old BC fan base, the people who were from Greater Boston and populated the Catholic parishes are slowly going away and aren't being replaced . 25 years ago I'd wager every city and town in eastern Mass and Rhode Island had BC alums and students. As the student body became more diverse and more national those connections just don't exist any more. So they have to not only win but win big to get any space. If they don't they are just another Harvard or Tufts. Add in the fact that there are no real traditional rivalries other than an equally bad Syracuse and you really have problems. If you are going to spend 1 weekend day tailgating and going to a game and you have no real connection to BC what are you picking BC NCSTAte or Pats-well anybody?

This! BC is in a tough spot. They are in a great conference, but they are the losers of the conference. It's like Animal House. UCONN is Otter - the coolest guy on campus who happens to be in the worst fraternity. BC is the Kevin Bacon guy - he's in the "cool" frat but no one likes him. Plus he has a bad haircut.

Generally, it is better to be the big fish in a small pond than a minnow in the ocean.

Only if that pond has an outlet to the sea. Big fish need room to grow.

BC hoops next two games are @ Wake and home with VT. They need to stay focused, but if they do, they could easily manage to lose both those games (to poor teams I might add) and then have an excellent chance to finish without a win in conference play in both men's hoops and football. That is quite an accomplishment. It's not necessarily something to be proud of, but it is certainly a rare "accomplishment".

Not sure if this is what DeFilippo had in mind for New England's college team.

btw, VT attendance will easily be in the hundreds and might even break a thousand.

BCU is down 26-2 w/ 7:30 left in the 1st half. 1-20 from the field. I guess they are focused

Now 37-4 w/ 3:30 left. Forgot to mention that Wake is 1-13 in the ACC

41-14 at halftime.

What makes it worse is that I thought I read that WF suspended their leading scorer and rebounder for this game.

Showing heart, grit, fortitude, and scrappiness, BC won the second half, 34-33.

Unfortunately for them, both halves count and the Eagles fall to 0-14 in conference games.
Well, I guess you can call them scrappy,.... as long as you remove the s.

Holy Cross looks like a bunch of geniuses now for being in the Patriot League.

This is what I mean by focus. BC wants this. From an historical perspective very few programs have managed to do o'fers in conference play in consecutive football and hoops seasons.

They get by VT - by that I mean lose to them, they will make history.
