Really an example of the law of unintended consequences. Eliminate from competition the one geographic rival that could have generated local interest in your own program and theirs as well, but because of your own selfishness you take your ball and go home and vanish into the oblivion.

You obviously don't understand BC. They draw nationally. There were literally hundreds of people there for that............................basketball game.

If they do, in fact, accomplish the extraordinary, we HAVE to print some good t-shirts to wear up to Chestnut Hill for Nov 19th

I don't think the Boston Globe sent a writer to the game (but did send a writer to the high school alpine skiing championships). The only evidence of it being played was in the "Sports Log" section, the section that has phrases separated by ".....". Here is the full coverage:

"....The Boston College men’s basketball team remained winless in Atlantic Coast Conference play after dropping its 15th consecutive league contest Tuesday night in a 71-56 setback against visiting Virginia Tech, which snapped a five-game skid in conference road games before a sparse Conte Forum crowd of 1,018. The Hokies (15-13, 7-8 ACC) got 14 points from Seth Allen and Justin Bibbs had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Eli Carter led the Eagles (7-21, 0-15) with 19 points and Dennis Clifford had 13 points and 12 rebounds, marking his second double-double of the season and third of his career....."

holy mother of god............1,018!

I was being sarcastic when I mentioned hundreds would be in attendance. I was duck*ing right!

My question: was that announced or butts in seats? Tragic either way, but much worse if that wasn't the actual number.

if it wasn't for BC hockey, I would suggest that BC build their new indoor football facility where Conte and just play their basketball games at Boston Latin or Newton North High School, plenty enough room there to host BC's basketball fans.

They should do that anyway...gut the men's and women's basketball programs locker rooms and make it a hockey only facility.

They close out with Ga Tech NC State and Clemson. Not exactly world beaters but surely Eagle Beaters.

Quote from a random poster on my LSU message board: "Rutgers and Boston College should play and just count it as a conference game so we don't have two major P5 teams go 0-18"

Bwahahaha, so nice

They should be more worried about their average team not making the tournament with the NCAAs best player.

They are probably only watching with one eye open as they wait for football to start again.

Ben Simmons is a more skilled version of what Andre Drummond was at UConn. A lazy freshman with not much mental fortitude.

Most want the coach fired. LSU has had its highest avg attendance in years, so fans were going, but now that they won't even make the NIT, it is back to Baseball season, where they avg 10k per game.

That all said, let's stay on topic. We were talking about how pathetic Boston College is, at everything...

@Fishy

This is worse than blowing up key tweets. Please ban these people.

If Boston College loses to Clemson Saturday, they will be 1st major program to go winless in conference play in both FB and MCBB since WWII.

"Hi, MAC, this is Boston College. Look, we need a new conf..." "Yea, sorry, we're looking for programs that will improve our conference."

Up by 7 with 5 minutes left. Tied with a minute left. Went 1 for 2 at the line to take a 1 point lead with 14 second left. Off an inbound from under the basket with 1.5 seconds left, NC State's C/PF simply rotates away from 2 BC defenders under the net and they don't follow. Almost an uncontested lay-up to win the game at the buzzer.
