Not that anyone cares but I had a dream last night that we joined the PAC-12 in all sports
After this season in the Big East I might be up for it if we got Memphis to join. Maybe pull Creighton and Marquette too. Would be the ultimate middle finger to Val and the corrupt BE offices.

That all does make sense.... but we have to first be asked to join,

Not to be a downer, I've just been let down too many times

I think they most certainly have been asked, at the very lease kicking the tires to see if they would come all sports, but it was likely a quick no from UConn so it never got to a point worth reporting on.

UConn has had a lousy winning percentage no matter how you slice it, so I'm not worried about distance. But the PAC would be wise to create an eastern division and get to about 16 football teams anyway which would help UConn

And with that said, your argument may hold water:
08/28/2021 - 45-0 Fresno State over UConn at Fresno State
10/01/2022 - 19-14 UConn over Fresno State at UConn
LMAO. No one is arguing playing at home doesn’t matter, but just maybe a datapoint of two has more to do with being historically bad in ‘21 and decent in ‘22.

Whenever you use two datapoints to make what is supposed to be a statistical point, you should know enough to stop.

I'm probably more concerned with the fact you dream about UConn Athletics and Conference Realignment... LOL!

why? everyone here obsesses about CR which is why we have a thread with 250k posts. I'm so obsessed I am posting this!

Of course this is not a realistic possibility, but interesting to me nevertheless. I have gone from loving the Big East to wanting out asap for reasons discussed in basketball threads. Strength in numbers. If the Big 12 and ACC won't act, we should.

Lol. I dreamt a long while ago the MW and BE formed a semi merger and UConn FB had a place to play.

Keep working the back channels to try to get into the Big 12. UConn’s 25&26 schedules are far superior to playing an all PAC 12 Schedule. If The PAC and MWC had merged with all the best brands under one tent then maybe, but this league doesn’t carry that weight.

The Pac12 is unappealing as a football only option - anyone up for an 11 pm game on a Wednesday night? No?

But anyone suggesting it for all sports….what is wrong with you?
People just looking for a solution and getting crazy on us.

There is no better option than Big East bball and Indy football outside the P4. Honestly, I’m starting to question if the P4 is even a good thing. It seems like the P2 are all that matter anyway.

The P4 is a double edged sword.

Even in a P2 world, the back half of the P4 are far more secure than schools outside the it - making $40-50M a year and having a seat at the table is better than making $5M and listening at the door.

Flip side - The B12 and ACC have gone to some lengths to make themselves unappealing. I don’t want to play basketball games at SMU, UCF, BYU, Houston, Cal, Stanford and a bunch of other places I don’t care about.

Football, fine. But basketball…blech.

Where is that $40 to $50 million coming from? The Big 12 and ACC are still handing out full memberships?

It will also be interesting to see what those deals look like the next time around. It seems like ESPN is doing everything it can to make the ACC worth less.

ESPN is part of the problem, but the Big 12 and ACC are not handing out full memberships anymore. The buy-in, which would be a huge cut in revenue from full membership, could last, years, a decade, or forever.

People who think UConn will get $40 million a year when/if it signs with the ACC or Big 12 are delusional.

Hopefully, we can get a decent cut so we can continue to improve football and maintain basketball. There has to be some common sense involved at some point that to be a strong conference, your members need money. I realize that SMU and Stanford don’t need money, which made them appealing. Hopefully, our need for it doesn’t hurt us in getting a spot somewhere.

You do realize we just paid big exit fee money to leave that mess right?

There are some intriguing FB matchups- Boise, OSU and WSU. Even throw Fresno and SDSU as good matchups. Also like academies.

Tulane, Memphis, and USF aren’t bad and Temple is already on the schedule and a good matchup.

I don’t think this happens and Pac 12 alone is too isolating for east coast presence.

we paid to leave the AAC and that is a sunk cost. We did it to save basketball, but for football, it was a very good conference. it is irrelevant to what UConn does going forward. It remains to be seen if football independence is a long-term solution. I'm not sure if the Big 12 is interested anymore but I don't think anyone thinks the status quo is the solution. Therefore, I'm open to all options.

There are two remaining issues:
1. Football conference affiliation
2. Basketball is getting shaken down in the BE

Not that the rankings are the end all, but here are the number of basketball programs ranked. This is a problem for the Big East:

9 - SEC
5 - Big 12
5 - Big 10
3 - ACC
2 - Big East
1 - AAC
