OT: The Old, the Obscure, and The Forgotten - Round 2

Going waaaaay back to the 90s (Jacqueline and Pauline are identical twins)

The second side of A Hard Day's Night was put together in about a week. They were told they needed to put together a second side for the soundtrack album, and they had nothing. So the writing, arranging, recording, and mixing happened in a week.

And I think it is, bar none, the best side of music the Beatles ever did, and one of the best anyone ever did. You can't do that, Things we said today, I'll cry instead, this one -- all absolutely amazing.
@Bigboote I think "Things We Said Today" is a fantastic song, and one of my Beatles favorites.

And Mary McCaslin did a fabulous cover of it- I used to hear it on KTCL Ft Collins, Co. a good amount back in the 70's:

Ms McCaslin has done some really good work over the years. I always liked her "Old Friends" song. "The gifts they've given stay with us everyday..."

This one is not very old, but it is obscure to me at least. Never heard it before yesterday, but the guy is good. It was on a soundtrack to an Italian series I watched.

Oh you bet Bama, that was another KTCL favorite, they played a lot of her, Kate Wolfe, Joni, Bonnie Raitt, Judy Collins, Wendy Waldman, Emmy Lou, Laura Nyro, etc

Another "Don't Let Go" version, this time from Commander Cody accompanied by some good old time film clips:

I think the Ross sisters are at 0:45. They were extraordinary acrobats. I'll find them and post later. Thanks for the C. Cody add.

I don't know where I 1st heard these guys, or when I bought their 2-disc CD set titled "Pirates Choice." But I found it in my collection under a Lana Del Rey record. They are known as "West Africa's Iconic Dance Band."

Great intro song for when our women take the floor

Is that all you got? (lol)
I'll take your best shot!
BOOM! BOOM! READY OR NOT!

Here is a really old song done by a young artist and her band in a style quite different from previous versions. This young lady is something special.

I think she had already released an album by the time she was 16, maybe younger. I heard some of her early stuff, but I've lost track of her.

Lykke Li singing one of my favorite songs, in one of my favorite movies, "Blue is the Warmest Color." (2013)

I, I follow, I follow you
Deep sea baby, I follow you
I, I follow, I follow you
Dark, doom honey, I follow you

I don't know whether she's really obscure, but Tal Wilkenfeld is new to me. She's played bass with Jeff Beck among many others, released an album of jazz in 2007, and her first vocal album last year. She has a really interesting voice and is an absolutely amazing bass player.

She was playing with Jeff Beck at 16 years old. I have seen a video of her playing with Clapton at the Crossroads Festival several years ago. And one of her with Billy Gibbons. She is amazing!

Batdorf and Rodney, early 70's - one great acoustic tune:

Nice song. I barely recall them from the mid seventies. Canadians I think. Thanks.

This one was an obscure - but beautiful, album track from Dave Mason back in the early 70's:

Leticia "Tish" Hinojosa sings the last track from a very enjoyable record (rave review from allmusic.com)

This is a truly beautiful "distance" duet. It's worth a listen just to hear two great voices, and see the settings.
