The Official Tourney Thread

Watching it again, as I said I only saw the last replay before fragrant call, and I did not notice the feet getting tangled so it looked worse than it was. Still, the guy has to pretend he's playing the ball. It's a tough call to make right there and probably should not have been made, but you can't give the ref an out like that.

They went to the monitor and changed the call from a regular foul to a Flagrant 1. They thought about the foul, looked at the replay, and decided Arkansas should win the game.

Looking like a chalk tournament so far and there are not a lot of big upset opportunities left. Long live the P5.

The Arkansas guy sold it so well that it looked worse than it was. Bad call and the refs should know better.

Seton Hall player made no effort for the ball and tripped the kid for good measure. That was just dumb.

SMU seemingly got every rebound in Hartford. They just gave up 3 offensive boards in one possession to USC.

My top 5 take aways after a day and a half.
1. Michigan / Ok St is by far the best game of the tournament thus far. NDame/Princeton would be 2nd, but well behind #1
2. That Vandy foul to end the game is by far the dunce (and dumbest) play of the tourney so far.
3. The committee was super lazy to place USC and SMU on a path for a first round matchup after already meeting in November. They could not simply swap Cincy and SMU??
4. I swear to god that commercials are getting worse every year. Darn are they awful this year, and there seems to be a continuous loop of the same 10 or so (ugh) and cue more and more masters commercials, which is the exact opposite of march madness (ie boring and elitist). I will wear out my mute button, that is for sure.
5. Cue the conspiracy folk, AND RIGHTFULLY SO, after that horrible call going against Shall. I was all for Arkansas, but not like that. Awful call of the tourney so far.

Smu has to keep the pedal to the metal. You let get close at the end the refs will find a way to screw Smu over as they should know.

Olejeye with 3. Let's see if they give him a 4th.

SMU doing a terrible job of attacking the zone.

Moore with 4, SMU clinging to a 2pt lead at the under 8 timeout.

They are doing nothing against USC's zone.

SMU no composure against the zone.

Olejeye finally goes inside and makes them pay.

Is that based off of anything or just anecdotal? Not asking to be a , just curious.
A few years back UConn played day 2 as a favorite after a ton of upsets on day 1. And generally its not 2 days of upsets. This year looking bleak though, an afternoon of chalk so far. Hope I didn't jinx it & tonight is fun.

I guess again looking for a bright side no first round upsets increases likelihood for 2nd round upsets, so the top 10 teams all have to play better teams Saturday & Sunday.

This is the eye test for SMU - P5 opponents in the big dance. So far USC's a big problem for them.

LOL Miracle 3 by SMU there. Needed it because they are passive against the zone.

Did anyone in the AAC zone them?

Well its a 2 pt game with 3 to go. USC ball. And SMU looks tight. This should go well.

The winner of this game will have an advantage vs the 3 seed.
