kept score at home while watching Tom Seaver fan the last 10 straight in a complete game, 19k win in 1970. still have the scorecard. Those three innings were special to watch. The only two pitchers I’ve ever watched live that can be that unhittable for stretches like that are 85 Gooden and prime Sox Pedro.
What's the question?7 inning doubleheaders?
With our anemic offense, three runs is like ten.I'm officially spoiled and upset when a starter gives up 3 runs.

McNeil is always the obvious one when he is struggling because he wears his heart on his sleeve and looks like he wants to hurt himself every time he makes an out.I think the cancellations and facing some really good opposing pitching has made that seem worse. McNeil is the one that's super overdue for me. Other than his tying HR a while back, he hasn't looked good at all.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a little of the same. Really trying to be in love with him knowing how long he'll be here.McNeil is always the obvious one when he is struggling because he wears his heart on his sleeve and looks like he wants to hurt himself every time he makes an out.
I know it's wayyyy early, but for me, watching Lindor sashay up to the plate with a .171 average and without appearing to have a care in the world is a little more annoying. I know pressing doesn't help anyone, but I'd like to see him appear a little more invested after the investment Uncle $teve made in him.
The Lindor sample size is ridiculous and unfair. I keep telling myself that. But there are high expectations when you sign a guy to the third-largest contract in the history of game and that's simply hard for me to deny.Curious if you guys feel the same about Nimmo who smiled through his 0-5 last night. Neither one bothers me and I suspect Lindor will grow on you guys once he has a real sample size of ABs
“You know when you drive down the highway and you see a billboard for the Powerball that says $300 million?” Lindor, the Mets’ gifted shortstop, told reporters on a video conference call on Thursday. “Imagine you getting that right now. You are going to tell me you aren’t going to scream? I am going to scream. I want to scream. I’ve been working for years my whole entire life.”
It's an incredibly small sample size, if he were to go 3/4 tonight he'd raise his batting average 51 points. Can't deny the expectations and he'll have to meet them, if he's still hitting like this in June then I think it'll be warrantedThe Lindor sample size is ridiculous and unfair. I don't have those same expectations about Nimmo because I have seen a lot more of him and he is not supposed to be one of the best players in the game right now.
JD Davis has regressed in the field, and now I think it's in his head. Not the best defensive inning I've seen
Not that I have the slightest idea of what he does now....but the only way to usually get better there is work and reps. A thousand grounders after a thousand grounders. I don't know how much defense we can continue to give up for his bat.JD Davis has regressed in the field, and now I think it's in his head.
It's been funny seeing how quickly Mets fans turned on Lindor
Ok, now he is being booed. Heard it last night.I don't think it's that people have turned on the guy. He's not being booed or anything. I think people are just scarred from us having a long history of being snakebitten with big contracts and they are very prematurely worrying about it here. I like what I've been seeing from him attitude-wise. He already seems to be a leader who expects excellence.
Really looking forward to tonight. For one, I have a ton of Sox fan friends and family and I have been talking lots of smack. Then, seeing if he can string another 14k type game together to keep this thing going. Most though, I just felt last game he pitched the offense looked looser than usual. I mean, literally...if they can score 3 runs, give the pen a little buffer for 1-2 innings, it's a W at this point.Ok, now he is being booed. Heard it last night.
Nice defense, but so far he's more Rey Ordonez than Mookie Betts, Derek Jeter, etc.
And we continue to be the most painfully unclutch team.
Would be nice if he--or anyone--showed up to hit in support of Jake tonight.
I am so freaking pissed. I reached out to every Mets, Sox and just baseball fan in general among my family and friends to see if anyone was interested to head in for the game tonight. I had a few maybes while I held off buying either a four-person pod from the Mets or one to three tickets from StubHub, etc. I've been watching the tickets a few times an hour or more since last Friday and each time I was about to pull the trigger, one or another potential running partner waffled on either being in or out; and by the time it became clear yesterday morning that I was solo, all the decent singles were gone and now it's $250+ for crap seats.Really looking forward to tonight. Or....if you don't go, you'll miss something iconic. 22 K's? Perfect game?I am so freaking pissed. I decided that I was out if I didn't find one before heading out the door this morning, but of course I keep checking now and watching the clock to see if I could still pull it off which now would involve going back home to change first because I didn't bring a change of clothes.
I'm giving myself until noon...maybe 1:00...
And I have a sinking feeling that if I do go, you will have jinxed it and he is going to get lit up tonight.
But if I don't go, he will pitch a perfect game and also score the only run on a solo HR.
Yes, hence the last line of my post.Or....if you don't go, you'll miss something iconic. 22 K's? Perfect game?
^FactsWe gotta start hitting, ugh.. This team is too damn good to be getting mystified by crappy Red Sox pitching
