The guy cannot stay on the field. Saying he hasn't missed time at LG is a pile of crap. You'll see. If he plays 13+ games, I'll buy you a steak dinner. The Pats drafted Wilson last year, who was regarded as the top Center in the draft. He fell further than he should have. He was always going to be the starting center this year, glad we got a 5th for Bradbury. With a 2nd year center and LT, AVT slots in nicely at LG, where he hasn't missed any time. Campbell was good before his knee injury and honestly shouldn't have come back.
Jets with a nice move picking up Davis, but they certainly haven't done much for a team with a lot of needs. Tanking for a QB again it seems.
On another note, Matt Snell, whom many felt was the real MVP of Super Bowl iii passed away today. Matt ran for 121 yards and scored the only Jet touchdown against the Colts. RIP.The guy cannot stay on the field. Saying he hasn't missed time at LG is a pile of crap. You'll see. If he plays 13+ games, I'll buy you a steak dinner.
It will be awkward for you if he ends up on the Patriots now.Nope. Didn’t want him. He’s not great against the run. I want a bigger true DE rather than a speed guy like Crosby. I don’t believe in trading picks for guys on high $ deals, no matter who they are. Crosby was overpaid when he signed that deal. Bad use of cap space. There are FAs out there who give you 85% of his pass rush ability, are better vs the run and cost half as much in salary and nothing in draft capital.
You should know better than this…now that he is on the Patriots he won’t miss a game the next 3 years. The guy cannot stay on the field. Saying he hasn't missed time at LG is a pile of crap. You'll see. If he plays 13+ games, I'll buy you a steak dinner.
Nah. The one constant on NFL players is once they get hurt, they only keep getting hurt over and hurt more. That's the reality of the NFL that no one can hide from and he's missed 41 of a possible 68 games so far.You should know better than this…now that he is on the Patriots he won’t miss a game the next 3 years.
It’s interesting how it ends up basically being a trade of Geno Smith for Fields. Although I think the pick they gave up for Geno is 2026 and the pick they get for Fields is 2027. The money they gave the Raiders washes with what they are getting from KC.I'll take a 6th rounder for him. I believe that basically that negates what we gave up for Geno Smith and, quite frankly, as much as I hate Geno Smith he's light years better than Fields.
Fields has flopped at 3 different stops and, I know the KC staff is a far better judge of talent than The Deepster is, but man I don't know what they see in him. If he actually turns out to be a productive NFL QB there, I'll really question the Jets ability to develop anyone. It’s interesting how it ends up basically being a trade of Geno Smith for Fields. I guess a few teams were interested in Fields and he wanted to go to KC. Smart move by him…he needs to be around a top flight OC and top flight QB. Fields is so frustrating…he has so much potential. I hope he figures it out.
But yes…at this point Geno is much better and I think he is a perfect bridge…bridge to who or what I don’t know.
I don’t know…similar to Darnold…the Jets weren’t the only team who didn’t develop him. There is no looking back on this one. There is no way he could have been on the roster this year after the 2025 disaster. When he stated he was not willing to play as a wildcat QB and basically quit on the team when he was benched…there was no way Glenn and Mougey could have him in the locker roomFields has flopped at 3 different stops and, I know the KC staff is a far better judge of talent than The Deepster is, but man I don't know what they see in him. Good luck to him…but if he all of a sudden figures it out…I still don’t blame the Jets for dumping him.
Nor has Trey Lance. It’s wild how bad that QB class was considering people thought u was great. I suspect it was Covid and the reduced games played.I’m not going to lay awake at night worrying that it’ll suddenly come together for him.
I will say, I did think there was a chance Zach Wilson developed into a competent QB and that hasn’t happened yet.
Or maybe run-first quarterbacks actually stink?Nor has Trey Lance. It’s wild how bad that QB class was considering people thought u was great. I suspect it was Covid and the reduced games played.
I agree with you on guys who tend to run prematurely. Lamar is a key example. They built an offense for him, but it is limited. Drake Maye is faster than Josh Allen by the way and ran a lot in college and as a rookie. But they have been coaching him to extend plays. Remains to be see whether Daniels can learn to move to throw rather than taking off. Nix has wheels too, so running is good, if you can learn when to do it. Rodgers and Mahomes are good examples, they do run, but try to just extend plays most of the time.Or maybe run-first quarterbacks actually stink?
Look at the final 4 this year - Stafford, Maye, Darnold and Nix. Peyton and Eli, Brady, Brees, Matt Ryan, Goff, Stafford, Rivers, Rodgers, etc, etc. I hate the run-first QB. They simply don't allow the play to progress. That's why, I'm convinced, Lamar Jackson will never win a Super Bowl. To some extent, Josh Allen kind of falls in that bucket too, though not nearly as guilty of it all the time, but they rely too much on his legs in the end.
I agree with this and I will add injury is a big issue also with running QBs.Or maybe run-first quarterbacks actually stink?

The thinking is probably that Fields is a similar style QB to Mahommes. The coaching staff does not have to appreciably change the offense if their golden boy goes down.Fields has flopped at 3 different stops and, I know the KC staff is a far better judge of talent than The Deepster is, but man I don't know what they see in him. LOL. You may be the first person to compare Fields to Mahomes. The thinking is probably that Fields is a similar style QB to Mahommes. The coaching staff does not have to appreciably change the offense if their golden boy goes down.

Saying someone has a similar style to someone else is not to say they are similarly talented. Regardless if it's Minshew or Fields backing up in Kansas City, if Mahommes goes down, they are up a creek.
Which pick are you referring to that you wouldn’t move up from? 16…or 33?I don't know that I would move UP to take Simpson, but I can live with him if he's there and he continues to impress.
Who do you think will be the quarterback next year? Even if they draft a qb in the first round in 2027…it might be a stretch to start him on day 1.I do NOT want Geno for 2 years. I can swallow my medicine this year, but 2 years? No thanks.
Which pick are you referring to that you wouldn’t move up from? 16…or 33?
That seems high to me. I was thinking that they may need to move up from 33. But…if they really think he has a shot to be a starter then they should do it. I am still more supportive of keeping their top 4 picks and filling holes like edge, WR, CB etc.I could see taking him at 16. I guess I don’t know that someone would take him before that. Maybe not a well thought out comment by me.
If we drafted, say Arch Manning, next year. There is no way in hell he sits behind Geno Smith week 1.
Mougey is going to have to gamble his job and the Jets future using a draft pick on a QB. We have the draft picks and if he loves one of them that much where he's pushing the chips in on him, that's what we're going to have to live with. Simpson at 16 or one of the other non-Manning guys next year don't really make a difference to me.That seems high to me. I was thinking that they may need to move up from 33. The Jets are built to win like 6 or 7 games this year. They probably won’t be in position for Arch..but they might be able to trade. But it’s way to early to project which qbs in 2027 will be ready to play in 2027. I still think the Jets plan to play Geno for 2 years (if he is efffective).
