The Official 2025 NY Jets thread

Even for the Jets this is a clownshow. Woody is right…how can you trust any of Glenn’s staff decisions at this point. Both lead coordinators and 7 position coaches?

Good article in the Athletic today basically laying out what a crapshow this has been. I think Glenn is getting turned down left and right. It also talked about when Glenn was hired, he was thought to have an ability to build a strong staff. uh…no.

It feels like this just might force Woody’s hand to make a decision on Glenn. New reporting saying the Jets reached out to Jon Gruden..not sure what role…and he said no.

What is the thinking on Gruden as head coach? Maybe we go back to @Deepster idea of Rex Ryan?

Is this chaos sustainable?

We can't even lock down an OC or DC, can you imagine if we were in the head coach search? Especially when the only 3 QB's I've heard anything on are Kyler Murray (yuk), Geno Smith (shoot me) or a poor rookie Ty Simpson who would walk into this nightmare.

Lame duck HC, no other coach on staff and no QB in sight and Breece Hall walking away (if he's smart).

What else is there to strip down? Just fire the entire team and start from EE #1?

I wonder if Tomlin is up for a project?

QB options still include Willis, Mac Jones. Mariota....then draft Simpson somewhere later in the first. Or take a flyer on third tier qbs further down the draft. Then see what you have and use draft capital in 2027 for a QB. The problem is that Glenn won't survive that transition year This feels like the decision to give Saleh an extra year and we all saw how that worked out.

LOL. After an exhaustive search, the Jets hire someone named Brian Duker to be their defensive coordinator. He's 36 and comes with the stunning resume of being a pass game coordinator/secondary coach for Miami. The Dolphins were 23rd in the NFL in interceptions last season.

If I were Brian, I'd rent and not purchase a home. He'll only be here until Glenn's replacement fires him at some point in 2026.

I guess Glenn figures if he is going to go down he wants to go down calling the plays.

I really wanted Martindale.

Just so Jets it's sickening. If he wanted to call the plays, why interview Wink Martindale?

Seems like no one in the world, outside someone named Brian Duker, would take the job on this sinking sunken ship and even Glenn knows he's not qualified for it.

If he wanted a new offensive playcaller, why tell Engstrand he was safe?

this is comical. i am surprised he hasnt lost Chris Banjo to another team….yet.

I agree with what you are saying…but do you great that Harbaugh is a solid coach..worth the money..but he is not a top 10 coach in the NFL?
I feel the exercise would be pointless and arbitrary. Who care about if a KenPom type puts him in a Top 10 with some kind of fun with numbers. Pro coach, proven track record, worth the money, make the hire. That he might be 11th overall? So what?

What do we think about this? On the one hand it’s admirable. But my question is…he talked about how he wouldn’t feel comfortable transferring to another team, so why not just take the NIL and stay at Alabama? If he liked it so much….and the concensus is that he doesn’t have enough starts…why not just stay at the school you love? Do what Dante Moore did. He acts like his options were Draft or Portal. Unless Alabama wanted to move on from him.

Tough to tell. With all the options now it’s hard to try and read their minds. Like Moore. Did he know he needed more time or did he just hate the thought of going to the Jets? Or both?

I feel like any rookie being drafted this year by the Jets is behind the 8 ball. No coach stability. No coordinator stability. Even if they hold a clipboard for a Kirk Cousins or Kyler Murray, they’re not learning a thing the entire season or developing one bit.

well he actually has less college starts than Moore. But he may find it hard to dodge the jets. That's why I am surprised he doesn't just go back to Alabama.

I agree on the development. He may have a shot if they hire Reich

The Raiders are officially in a better place than the Jets. They have an up and coming offensive oriented head coach. The ability to pick Mendoza to be their franchise qb who they can pair with new offensive oriented head coach. Jeanty and Bowers as tools on offfense. I live in Vegas…I think I found a new team to like.

Yes…they still have holes all over the team including their offensive line. But the Raiders have hope and a direction

The Jets have a defensive head coach who just one of the worst Jet defenses ever. He failed by hiring Steve WIlks…and replaced him with a name I am not going to bother to look up. He still hasn’t picked an OC because one has to assume that the OCs are waiting for all the chairs to fill before an OC will settle on taking the Jets job.

The jets defensive minded head coach decided to sign a failed qb and pair him with a first time OC…and no real QB coaches on the team.Shocker…the season was a disaster and the Jets defensive minded head coach has moved on from his failed QB and first time OC.

The only hope…is that they get an expienced OC to agree to work with this disaster. ANd maybe an experinced OC who has a relationship with a decent QB they can trade for or sign.

Woody is soo lucky the Jets fans are so used to this crap that they keep supporting the team.

And then this…

Seems like a bit of a reach…he hasn’t called plays since 2022 with the Jets and as I remember, he didn’t exactly distinguish himself with how he managed the Zach Wilson disaster. He does have good pedigree and been around good coaches except for the Jets.

Arizona seems like a tough place to go right now.

so….now two OCs will go to Denver and LA. When will the music stop and the last standing OC is stuck with the Jets?

Oh wait…I guess they have to wait until Kubiak and LeFleur hire their OCs.

And just think. Neither the Jets head coach, OC or DC will be here at this time next year and we can do this all over again.
So let’s talk about the probability that a year from now the Jets will be hiring a whole new staff?

I think it’s hard to make an educated guess without seeing what they do with the OC, QB and the draft. But at this point, I would put it at 50%.

I think it's much, much higher than 50%.

Glenn is gone. 100%. There is no way he can turn around this disaster.

It's hard to think this unknown DC is going to come in, take this garbage defense and do well enough the new head coach keeps him on board. 95% he's gone?

If they get Reich for the OC role, I can see him staying on board with a new coach. 40% he's gone, 60% he stays. If it's anyone other than Reich who's an unknown? 85-90%.

I think this is as good as they could do. He has had mixed results, but they can’t have two inexperienced coordinators with a head coach also learning his job.

Let’s hope he can find a decent QB coach for whatever comes next in the qb position.

Is this best news of the offseason for us? LOL

Supposedly Cousins and Reich are bible buddies. Reich also has a history with Jacoby Brissett who still has one year on his deal. Wentz also has a history with him, but it isn’t a good history.

Of those options, I would prefer Brissett. I really reallly hop they don’t sniff around Kyler Murray.
