The Official 2025 NY Jets thread

sure don't!
i stopped watching last year, after they fired saleh, or roundabouts.
I ddint' have any special allegiance to Saleh, it just became not worth my time around then.

I'll be back once they have >0 passing yards in a game.

When has it ever been worth anyone’s time? Torturing yourself every week is part of the pain.

if i'm honest, for me it was last worth it in 2015, 10-6 if i recall correctly... & no playoffs, NICE.

To trade Breece Hall or not to trade Breece Hall?

SInce he is in the last year of his contract, there is a lot of speculation around him. I wonder what could you actually get for him?I can’t imagine getting better than a 2…and could you draft another RB in the second round that you know will be as good as him? I haven’t seen enough from Allen to say they are fine without Breece.

I think he has suffered from horrific playcalling that hasn’t taken advantage of his talents. If they are starting over with a rookie QB next year, they need to have a solid running game to support him. And…he says he wants to stay a Jet….which has to mean something considering how bad they have been since he has been there.

I say keep him and extend him unless you get overwhelmed with a trade offer. The Jets don’t have cap issues…so it shouldn’t be hard to fit him in. Also…extend Jermaine Johnson now and hope you can get him at a discount. His return to the lineup was a huge difference against the Broncos.

Ok…I just heard Cimini’s podcast right after my Hall post…he said that the Jet’s would be lucky to get a 4 but more likely a 5 for him. He said it’s unlikely he is moved.

That sounds crazy to me…if it truly is just a 5…there is no way they should trade him. He thinks that SF…and Saleh…will be sniffing around for Quincy Williams..which he thinks is possible. He also thinks that SF would be interested in Jermaine Johnson…but he doesn’t think the Jets want to trade him because they control his rights through 2026.

I don't get the feeling Hall wants to be a Jet. I think he wants to get paid. This is the one contract RB's can cash in on, then their shelf life expires. His gripes about lack of usage or how he's being used, to me, tie back to having the stats to justify a big payday.

Personally? I don't care what they do with him. I like him and all....but the money spent on Wilson is already proven to be wasted for the next couple of years. Why throw another contract on top of that?

i hate trading away players who I know are good. but we are 0-infinity with the talent we do have, so literally cannot be worse, even with a roster of nobodies. I don't WANT to get rid of guys i love like the Q brothers, but at this point what difference does it make. sigh

Why can’t it be both? He wants to be paid and be a Jet.

He has every right to not be happy with how he has been used by the inept OCs. He also has every right to want his payday.

But…my point is…if you are going to just get a 5th round pick for him…what’s the point in trading him? They will need to draft another RB or sign a FA to fill his spot. Might as well just keep him.

They don’t have cap issues. His contract wouldn’t be as big as a contract like Wilson’s. I just don’t want to create another hole for a fifth round pick. You know what you have with Hall. I would rather build off of that than hope a draft pick or FA RB works out.

And you are right…I don’t really care either. It’s just something to talk about other than how bad this team is.

Yeah, I guess you're right. And I'm probably just tired out and apathetic about anything to do with this team right now.

As a Pats fan who would be happy to have him for a 5th and even a 4th, Jets would need to consider what he'd bring in a comp pick if he signed elsewhere in the offseason. Probably a 3rd or 4th. No reason to take less than that.

Here’s a good one. If you took the current rosters of the Jets and Giants and combined them, including coaching and owner. Could they win the Super Bowl this year?

I say no. Mostly because of coaching and you have to depend on Dart to be good enough to get through the playoffs. I love Dart…but we have not seen enough to believe he could win playoff games.

Combine the Jets and Patriots and I say yes. They would have the coaching and QB.

OK…bold prediction this week. I think that Engstrand has finally realized Fields is not Goff…and I think Fields realizes this is his last chance. I think they stop trying to make Fields a pocket passer and Fields stops being cautious.

Of course with Wilson probably sidelined, this will be difficult. And with Carolina playing tough lately they will play with confidence.

I think the Jets come out with a completely different approach. Short passes to Hall and Taylor…designed runs for Fields…and the defense has another solid week. Special teams continues to be special.

So…I am predicting a Jets win. My brain tells me they will lose…but I am going with my heart this week.

This take aged well. I guess it was the hopium.

At least the defense looke decent again. And at least AG finally benched Fields. I kinda felt bad for Taylor…he had a crap group of WRs to throw to with Wilson out. But he did miss a couple big plays with underthrows.

So…will they win a game? Maybe Miami at home?

they will win buffalo at the end of the year. because buffalo will rest everyone, and we don't want the #1 pick, so why not?
maybe one more at the end, dejected miami...

I don't even want those wins. meaningless, empty shells of competition.
empty out the meadowlands - keep your dollars and your peace.

I love the Jets, but I hate this team.

As I said somewhere earlier in this thread…the Jets will find just enough garbage wins to ensure they miss out on a top QB and force them to reach for a qb that shouldn’t get drafted as high as they draft him.

Or skip over a Jaxson Dart....again.

Not only did they pass on a potential cornerstone qb…they get to watch him succeed in the same stadium they play in while they trot Brady Cook out.

dude i cannot waittttt to see the social media videos of an empty metlife in november and december. no one is going to want to suffer in the NJ winter weather just to see the Jets... much less if they trot out another no-name QB at the tail end of a lost season.

I made the mistake of going to my first jets game around thxgiving time a few years back, and paid an arm and a leg for decent seats, just to see them trot out Tim Boyle. I know some of you love him perhaps, uconn and whatnot - he sucked. I felt bamboozled.

I heard the crowds are already embarrasingly small and, you're right, the bad weather will make that worse.

It's a 3+ hour drive for me. I honestly thought about this. If you offered me free tickets on the 50 yd line, I didn't have to drive and I was part of a really nice tailgate....but it was going to be 15 degrees? I would turn that down 100% of the time.

If you said....you get all that AND we'll pay you $500.00 for your time? I'd still stay home.

AG being honest with the media…

"I have all the confidence in the world in Justin, I have all the confidence in the world in Tyrod, and I have all the confidence world in Brady [Cook]," said Glenn, referring to the Jets' practice-squad quarterback, an undrafted rookie.

Ha, I came here to post this. Poor kid.

I will tell you…AG needs to learn quick about how to work with the media. His being overly sensitive to every tough question is not going to go over well with Jet fans. The quarterback that he personally selected to lead the team this year( a quarterback that he saw frequently when the Bears played the Lions)has been awful. And he can’t act righteous when he gets asked why the quarterback is failing. The media is just asking questions that the fans want answers to. If he thinks his whole job is protecting his players and ignoring the media and the fans…this won’t end well.

He is 0-7…he needs to grow up and face the music. The Jets fans don’t want him fired (yet)…they just want some acknowledgment that things haven’t gone well and he knows it and will fix it. I don’t want to hear another “we had a good practice this week”. I am disappointed that a man of his age and experience is acting this poorly.

He’s in over his head. And the natural reaction is being overly defensive. And it goes two ways. Either things turn around and he gains credibility (slim chance) or it compounds on itself and buries him eventually (most likely).

That’s the part that’s frustrating…he shouldn’t be in over his head. He is 53 years old…he has been in some form of football coaching/administrative role since 2012.

According to Rich Cimini, Glenn has a big five year contract. Reportedly twice what Saleh was paid. Why? That helps explain why Johnson is so protective of Glenn. He is too cheap to fire him any time in the near future.

The Jets fans are left with one thing…hope. And that strategy never works out for Jets fans.

i like aaron glenn.
he needs time.
If things are gonna get better, they will get worse first.
But - If things are NOT going to get better, they will get worse anyway, in 2025.

So - I keep telling jets fans, ignore the team right now, and keep your sunday peace.
let AG cook for a while and check in once they're watchable again.
