The Official 2025 New York Yankees Thread

Super sensitive for just replying with some facts? Not sure who the sensitive one is here?
gimme a break. You're equating Roy White with HoFers. Go get your security blanket and hide behind moms apron from big old mean me.

Would Roy White have made good money playing today? Potentially, but only because the average MLB salary is about $5M.

Are Yankee fans going to Fantasy Camp for Roy White? Eh, maybe?

At the end of the Day, it's like Red Sox fans getting excited over Marty Barrett. No fan of any other team cares one iota.

Coming from you I take it with a grain of salt. And by the way it’s simple read it again he basically used Horace Clark and Roy White to compare so that’s ridiculous they aren’t in the same breath. I just reacted with some simple facts but you need to use your Sox fandom sometimes even when no one cares. It’s hilarious but nicely done I guess.

Wait show me where I equated Roy White with HoFers?? You on the other hand embarrassed yourself throwing Horace Clark in the same line with Roy White, now that shows how little you know!

Me: The appeal of an old-timers game was seeing Mantle, Ford, Berra, etc. A game with Roy White and Horace Clarke doesn't have that appeal.

You: Roy White was great!

Obviously that's why White's #6 is retired. Oh, wait... that was Torre. Cripes, you guys retired Bernie Williams's number, so the bar is pretty low.

I think the fact that White played on the team that went to three straight World Series plays a part in how he's viewed by Yankee fans. It goes beyond the statistics.
I dont disagree, but I think that is inconsequential.

Weren't other Yankees (Nettles, Chambliss, Randolph) on those late 70s teams who fans of other teams, like @storrsroars, would recognize over Roy White?

I don't believe the point of the post was to say White was not a serviceable player. He's just being used as an example of a player who would probably not draw fans to Old-Timers Day on his own.

Not Red Sox fans I agree. But you’re in your mid 60s and grew up a Yankee fan you appreciate his consistency. He was a very good baseball player no one is saying he’s Mantle Ford or Berra. But you respect the player he was and he’s not Horace Clarke, Jake Gibbs or Steve Whitaker either.

Wow you’re lost. A mid 60 year old Yankee fan likes what Roy White brought to the pinstripes. No one said his number should be retired it’s an ignorant reply. Bernie Williams is a fence HOFer and by the way I’m not one of “you guys” I didn’t vote to retire his number.

The Yankees have by far the best collection of baseball players out of any MLB team but when doing an old timers game at any given time they aren't all going to all be hall of famers. Fans want to see the players they enjoyed watching especially those who helped the team win World Series. Roy White was a little before my time but I sure as hell would want to see Scott Brosius at a Yankee old timers game.

This is not about me. SR said he's a Mets fan who historically liked Yankees OTD, but lost interest as the caliber of player decreased. I am a 3rd party with an opinion.

Interesting Stat about Aaron Judge.

Anyone else starting to love the Jose Caballero For Everson Pereira trade? Fits the team perfectly as a slap hittin' speed demon that can play any position. IMO, he's an essential bench piece this year and beyond (four more years of control after this season).

Also, I'm all for grooming Ben Rice as a full-time catcher. Helps keep his bat in the lineup and his defense has been better than expected.

Oh hey please send me the place I said “ME: Roy White was great” point that one out. Oh wait you won’t find that will you. Instead you will find my initial reply was nothing but fact as I stated. But please continue on with your Horace Clarke comparisons as if you know.

First Yankee game I saw in person, Larry Gura vs. Nolan Ryan: Gura scattered 6 hits over 7 innings, Ryan gave up 2 hits in a complete game. Unfortunately, for the Ryan Express, he walked Horace Clark then gave up one of those two hits to Roy White - home run to left center. Yankees won 2-0.
