Roy White was a very good Yankee consistent as hell, check his stats. He would be a high paid player in this day and age because stats kinda suck in baseball, especially the Yanks.

Pretty sure that nobody, outside of his family, ever bought a ticket to a Yankee game just to see Roy White. Mantle, DiMaggio, Ford, etc. sure. And those were the guys in the Old Timers games I spoke of.

Well, one benefit of the slump and Judge’s injury is I got 10th row RF seats today for $30 apiece for my first home game of the year.

With the bullpen getting healthy and the schedule getting soft, it’s time for the Yankees to make up ground. After a week away, nice to see a stress-free win last night.

Stanton is on a burner. Hard to understand that this same guy can go through long stretches where he looks like he's never played the game before.

Tonight's broadcast team of Kay, O'neill and Girardi is my favorite of the various combinations. Girardi is really good and he raises Paul's game.

It was fun to be at the stadium on Tuesday night. My seats were in right field in section 106, so sitting in the direct line of Stanton's hit off-the-wall was something to be seen live.

Also, nice to see Volpe starting to get his juice back w/ 2 HR, 7 RBI, 5 R, 3 SB and a .831 OPS since the start of August. Just seems like a more confident kid after a dreadful June and July.

Goldy likely on the DL now, so my guess is Rice will be the primary 1B, Wells/Escarra will split catching starts and then probably bring up someone like Vivas to get a bench role.

Won a series against the Twins whoopty freaking doo. Of course ya couldn't take advantage of the Jays and Sox losing last night. This is the position the Yankees it themselves in, having must sweeps now when given the chance and last night was a golden opportunity and of course they failed so I'm not counting this as a series win.

Would Roy White have made good money playing today? Potentially, but only because the average MLB salary is about $5M.

Drew Gilbert (in the Rogers trade) is the only prospect they may regret. They definitely did not overpay for Helsey.

Rogers/Helsey/Diaz are going to be very tough to overcome down the stretch + they upgraded in CF without giving up Baty, Vientos, Mauricio or Acuna. For the first time in a long, long time I feel the Mets are the team to beat in the NL.

I can’t believe I wrote this less than 3 weeks ago. I hate being a Mets fan.

I think the fact that White played on the team that went to three straight World Series plays a part in how he's viewed by Yankee fans. It goes beyond the statistics.

Coming from you I take it with a grain of salt. And by the way it’s simple read it again he basically used Horace Clark and Roy White to compare so that’s ridiculous they aren’t in the same breath. I just reacted with some simple facts but you need to use your Sox fandom sometimes even when no one cares. It’s hilarious but nicely done I guess.

Me: The appeal of an old-timers game was seeing Mantle, Ford, Berra, etc. A game with Roy White and Horace Clarke doesn't have that appeal.

Not Red Sox fans I agree. But you’re in your mid 60s and grew up a Yankee fan you appreciate his consistency. He was a very good baseball player no one is saying he’s Mantle Ford or Berra. But you respect the player he was and he’s not Horace Clarke, Jake Gibbs or Steve Whitaker either.

The Yankees have by far the best collection of baseball players out of any MLB team but when doing an old timers game at any given time they aren't all going to all be hall of famers. Fans want to see the players they enjoyed watching especially those who helped the team win World Series. Roy White was a little before my time but I sure as hell would want to see Scott Brosius at a Yankee old timers game.

This is not about me. SR said he's a Mets fan who historically liked Yankees OTD, but lost interest as the caliber of player decreased. I am a 3rd party with an opinion.

Anyone else starting to love the Jose Caballero For Everson Pereira trade? Fits the team perfectly as a slap hittin' speed demon that can play any position. IMO, he's an essential bench piece this year and beyond (four more years of control after this season).

Also, I'm all for grooming Ben Rice as a full-time catcher. Helps keep his bat in the lineup and his defense has been better than expected.

First Yankee game I saw in person, Larry Gura vs. Nolan Ryan: Gura scattered 6 hits over 7 innings, Ryan gave up 2 hits in a complete game. Unfortunately, for the Ryan Express, he walked Horace Clark then gave up one of those two hits to Roy White - home run to left center. Yankees won 2-0.

At this point of the season, the idea is to win and build a team that can win in the playoffs, despite their flaws.

With that being said, Jose Caballero should be the starting SS, right?

Right now, he's better than Volpe at drawing walks, making contact, situational hitting, baserunning and fielding...he does the little things well.
