The Official 2025 New York Giants Thread

If Daboll was fired I would hope they have someone lined up to take over. It makes no sense just to fire him without having a backup plan. Bowen will takeover as interim? Doesn't make sense.

Banks is a miss but if Schoen doesn't get credit for obvious consensus picks in Thibodeaux or Carter that have looked great then it's not fair to knock him for an obvious consensus pick that failed in Neal
In all candor I believe Neal was as much of a victim of poor coaching as his own shortcomings. With his size and athletic ability he should not have appeared as lost as he had when he was playing.

At Alabama, he was one of a few who got the job done entirely on physical superiority (Alex Leatherwood was another). You need solid fundamentals and a decent amount of skill in the NFL as you will seldom be as physically superior as you were in college. If he could have learned to get out of his stance on passing plays he could have been decent. Not good enough to warrant #7 overall but decent.

Went back and took a look at some of shots Dart has taken. There was one in the end of the 49ers game where he was hit in the shoulder then the back of his neck and then his head hit the turf. He got up and threw a TD to Gunnar but then when he went to the sideline he crouched down either in pain or dizziness. Why was he even in the game at that point?

Kafka is the interim coach. If you know Daboll is not your future coach there's no reason to let him stay around and ruin your franchise QB

I think its a good idea to give Kafka the shot given that he's on the list of candidates

I am not upset about this game at all. they played very well against a tough team and actually had them worn down in the end and should have been in for the tie except Winston threw a terrible pass. Overall a very exciting game. I am seeing a different game from Kafka.

It was a perfect pass if Jalin Hyatt didn't decide to stop running halfway through his route. It's amazing he's even still on this team

or if Jameis threw it to him where he stopped. miscommunication on the route

I don't think it was Winston I think we've finally learned why Hyatt with his supposed speed cant see the field. He ran the wrong route.

The speed is real. He just avoids contact whenever possible. If he finished the pass route in question the DB's only play would have been too try hitting him hard enough to disrupt the completion. Earlier he stopped running on a deep seam route when two DB's started converging. The pass ended up being overthrown, but may have been a completion and collision if he kept running.

The kid should have stuck with track and field.

Even though the season "is over", I'm glad the Giants brought back Isaiah Hodgins. On the offensive end, the key for this year is to help continue the growth of Dart, so having three reliable WR targets like Robinson/Slayton/Hodgins will help him spread the field along w/ Theo Johnson and both RBs are decent receivers too.

He’ll never be a quarterback who will lead your team to a Super Bowl, but holy crap Jameis is incredibly fun to watch.

Participation trophies are for losers. I credit Kafka and Winston for providing a spark amongst this dumpster fire. I give Winston 2 more games, then start Dart the rest of the season just be extra cautious with him in a lost season then give him that extra experience and hopefully more refined play with more sliding and taking less hits less designed qb runs.

1. Not kicking the fg to go up 6 says that as coaches you don't trust your defense any more than the fans do. The only hope of winning was to make it a 2 score game. I call bullsh... if they try to spin it as showing confidence in the offense.
2. Go up 10 and 3 plays later a 49 yd run up the middle.
Go into OT 1 play 89 yds up the middle.
The defense isn't poor, its shameful.
As a group the defense should take a 20% pay cut and Bowen should resign and publicly vow never to coach again. /s
3. When we went up 10 the last time you couldn't find a person at the bar I was at who would bet on the Giants winning. The only mystery was what they would do to lose. I figured they would play a soft zone and the Lion's passing game would march up the field with chunk plays. Wrong again Ricker. Instead, the Lions remembered the Giants can't stop the run either.

I never like to celebrate a person's firing or them losing their job, but it had to be done. The case can easily be made that Bowen should have been fired sooner. Firing Daboll and Bowen is not close enough to fixing the Giants. Some front office people need to be removed, too, even if that does or does not include Joe Schoen.

I celebrate this firing along with Joe Judge and Pat Shurmur with no issue. Also once Schoen is gone.

It needs to include Schoen.

Among the issues the Giants will be facing this upcoming offseason is that they will be in the bottom quarter of the league in terms of available cap space, which is entirely on Schoen.

A team this flawed shouldn't be among the top eight in the league in salary commitments.

Now they fire him? Bowen and Daboll should've been fired on the spot after the Denver game.

It really should not, and yes that is Joe Shoen's fault. It still boggles my mind that Saquon was able to be fit into the Eagles squad and that was the Giants #2 overall pick in 2018.
