The Official 2025 New York Giants Thread

On paper, and from what we've seen last year, looking at the added depth, the OL (if healthy) should be serviceable and able to control enough to let Wilson work.

Very good game from Dart and more importantly, the starting OL looked good.

I'm cautiously optimistic as I like a lot of what I'm seeing. I am however very concerned about our run defense and my concern is that it is as much a schematic issue as it is a personnel issue.

If we can't stop the run nothing else matters.

I want to get excited, but I feel like I've fallen for the hype too many times at this point that I'm a bit gun shy. I like the way the defensive line can pressure the QB. That will make a shaky defensive back field look much better. Biggest concern for me, as it's been for the past many years, is the offensive line. No QB can succeed consistently if they're always running for their lives. Hope springs eternal.

I can't believe the players the giants are waiving. It's like they don't want to win. How do you waive Dante Miller but you are going to keep Singletary? Why waive Devito when you can capitalize on trading him or Winston for something in return? Even keep 4 quarterbacks for a bit after the 53 man cut and take your best trade offer over the first couple weeks when quarterbacks start going down.. Elijah Chatman gets the team into the end zone from the 1 yard line or opens the door for short yardage 1st downs, besides being Dline depth, we certainly don't need that. Dulcich looked like a player. Hyatt can only run in a straight line, can't break a tackle, and drops balls, must be a keeper. The tight end room is filled with good players, put a big target wide in space and waive the guy who can't catch. If they drop Gunnar O. I'll be back to complain more. Waiving Dante Miller is criminal. They better not be keeping Ward instead. Talk about draining optimism before the season starts.

I have had numerous gripes about the team's current leadership and I am not in agreement with a lot of what they've done.

Supposedly (from a handful of talking heads/alleged experts) both DeVito and Chapman will clear waivers and end up on the practice squad. I hope this is what happens, at least with Chapman as he is a useful piece.

I don't get the love for Singletary and Schoen's comment when they signed him (that he can do what Barkley can at a better price) should have gotten Schoen fired.

Every single player you just listed is likely to be back on the practice squad. And some will even be on the main roster by tomorrow. I'm sure Greg Dulcich will be back when Theo Johnson goes on IR. But these are all 4th stringers being forced off the roster by super talented young players, so I don't know why you'd lose your optimism

Devito having trade value lmao tell your joking, Winston wouldn't get you anything more then a late 6th and that's pushing it.

No but he'll be claimed. So will Dulcich.

Since the authoritative opinion has been rendered by our Boneyard savants you might as well get a good laugh from a USA Today writeup.
"Now, DeVito suddenly becomes one of, if not the best, veteran quarterbacks available for teams needing a backup." I understand other opinions aren't valid, but they do exist.

Which of the 3 QBs they kept would you have cut to keep DeVito?

The 4th stringers are safe on the Giants practice squad, the optimism is safe to return

Well @HuskyHawk can be happy now. Though I expect it'll quickly turn to unhappiness if he ever needs to actually see Tommy DeVito play football

Told you. Dobbs hasn't been good. Hospital balls left and right. DeVito is probably better. Many Pats media guys expected them to claim him.

Having watched Tommy DeVito for 2+ years I can promise you he is not. He is bad. There's a reason the Giants didn't even let him throw the ball any time he was on the field last year

Honestly feel like the Pats should have tried to trade for Sam Howell. Clear upgrade on either backup.
