The Official 2016 Mets Thread

Ralph, who would call Gary Carter
Gary "Cooper." But that was the era.

I love watching this kid Barraclough pitch for the Marlins. I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Mets uni someday.

Gary Cohen is killing me with his home run intonation for what turned out in both instances to be easy plays at the track.

Third time is the charm!!!

This might be the start of the run we've been waiting for all season...
Shhhhhhhh!

We've got no business going on a run with the pitching rotation we've been throwing out there. But I'll take it!

.-.
Nice choke job by the Bucs last night. No help.
Buckle up. Cards just know hom to win. May have to leap SF

After tonight, the Mets don't play a team with a winning record. deGrom looks like he might be back. Thor looked strong last night. Buckle up. It's gonna be a fun ride.

Twins and the dregs of the NL East.

Cards ain't going away.

.-.
Gigantes vs. Cards: who do we want to root for?

Dammit. Jake is done for the season. And there goes ours.

That guy's name is Ender Inciarte.

Gimme a break. It's a miracle we are still in contention with the level and extent of injuries we sustained.

Is this the Mets team doctor?

.-.
I will give TC his due, but some of his game pitching decisions are shaky.

I don't know....kind of a ramble here, but I almost feel like the Mets laid down some Monday night with the Jose Fernandez ceremonies and somber crowd. I felt like they were very classy in a lot of the gestures (they signed a Mets #16 jersey and gave it to their team, etc). I almost feel like part of me thinks Colon could have grooved a couple to Gordon to start the game. And I feel like the Marlins might have returned the gesture last night.

I'm not saying the Mets or Marlins threw either game....it just sorta feels like the "right" things happened the last two nights.

We beat the LA and Cub aces last year, this year too. Starts tomorrow with MB. CANNOT Wait!
Let's Go Mets!!! Thor to Reed to Jeurys. 5-2 Mets

I haven't seen the lineup for tonight yet. Trying to think through some of the possibilities, I think the chips are really stacked against us.

Drubs and Reyes are switched around to the right side. Far more effective from the LH side.
Grandy and Bruce struggle a lot more against lefties, especially their power numbers.
You have to start Loney or Duda and I believe I heard Loney is starting.
Conforto and Nimmo are lefties as subs.

The good?

Bumgarner's 6-5 on the road with a 3.39 ERA (2.14 at home). He gives up more than double the HR's on the road (19 in 109 IP vs 7 in 117 IP). He's lost 2 of his last 4 starts and given up 5 and 3 runs in his last 2 starts.

Can we get a surprise HR from someone named Rivera tonight?

Here is the Mets lineup for Wednesday's wild-card game against the Giants:

Reyes 3B,
Cabrera SS,
Cespedes LF,
Granderson CF,
TJ Rivera 2B,
Bruce RF,
R Rivera C,
Loney 1B,
Syndergaard RHP.

The only wrinkle is T.J. Rivera hitting before Jay Bruce, which separates lefties.

.-.
Duda not on the roster but Plawiecki the 3rd catcher.
game is a pick-em.
