OT: The Masters

I was just going to comment on the fashionistas on the BY but I reminded myself I’m not without sin .
I was playing an early morning weekend round by myself a few years ago so I was paired with 3 Canadian snowbirds. They were nice guys and must of been short term visitors because they brought a camera . In fact they had me take their picture on the bridge connecting our island green. Very Picturesque but after playing the hole hundreds of times you really don’t notice.
They had tickets to the Phoenix Open and made the mistake of asking me for any suggestions
Without thinking I said , lose
the knee socks and pick up some no shows or you will stick out like a sore thumb. That’s a savage crowd . Me giving fashion advise is pretty comical.
They took it well , I mean, they were Canadians polite to a flaw.
I always wondered if they took my advice.

This guy whittled the field down to 23 using metrics. Zalatoris would have made the top 23 except he was a first time player. Which played out again. No one since Fuzzy in 79 has won in their first appearance.

He got the winner and just about the entire top 10. Interestingly enough, he removes Schauffele because he doesn't hit the ball high enough yet Schaffele is a top 5 machine at Augusta.

He missed the green by a foot.. ball was pin high, 25 feet right of the flag. Ball below his feet (push lie) and he pushed it a tad. Definitely not even remotely close to a shank.

Phil Mickelson was spotted wearing it at a drive through.

FYI Winners can only take the jacket off club grounds for the first year - then it has to be returned and can only be worn there.

yep.

Let's see if I can do this right. Phil supposedly has a tradition where he'll invite some of the newer or younger players within his sponsorship groups to a sit deal meal at Augusta. Partway through the meal Phil gets up, goes and gets his jacket and returns to the table wearing it. Upon sitting down Phil says he was feeling a bit chilly and needed to warm up.
 
IMHO, the name Zalatoris definitely fits a evil emperor in a sci-fi movie. I don't know the ethnicity of the name. So it could be a space alien name.

Soon all Augusta will bow before Zalatoris.

I think they are piping in recorded bird songs on the TV coverage. Northern Cardinals were singing a bit too much on every broadcast.
 
So this is an interesting twist.

Zalatoris is a good Bond villain name.

So what is his angle for world domination?

Does Bond kill him with a golf club snapped in half and jam the shaft through his nose and brain and finish it off with a walkaway line of "Now that's what I call a shank!"?

Lithuanian or Greek I always get those two mixed up and i’m a seasoned genealogist. I think it depends on the gender of the word.

Don’t throw your money away on Finau, the guy is a fluffer. You really think the Masters is the first time he closes something out? Top 10, sure, made a killing on his Top 10s over the last 2 years, but don’t take him to win, and especially not at his current prices.

DJ, JT, Cantlay, Speith all strong choices. Bold I know. But look at the history, this isn’t the tournament where randoms are winnings very often.

Victor Perez to top 20 is a good bet.

Color me confused and entirely not confused on this one.

It's okay for the players to wear all sorts of sponsored clothing on their head, shirt, shoes, and bag. But a caddy holding up a sleeve of golf balls showing the brand the player is playing is a no no? Heck, caddies can have their own sponsorships for their hat and stuff at regular tour events.

OTOH, this son of Player's is a known POS and it's Augusta and I'm sure there are plenty of clearly expained do's and don't's.

Gary Player's son apparently 'banned' from Masters after opening ceremony stunt

It was weird the way he did it....but it's augusta they do what they want.
