You really have to watch the entire episode and the series. But here is the back story. UCONN Alumni Scott Burrell was a teammate of MJ. MJ would ride Burrell unmercifully during practices. MJ said he just wanted Burrell to fight him back but he was "too nice a guy". One Day after a game Burrell brought two friends into the locker room to meet MJ. I believe Scott said the guys in the clip were former UCONN teammates. They mentioned that they drove all the way from CT for the Bulls game in Chicago. Anyway MJ sits with Burrell's friends and right away MJ starts talking trash while he signing autographs. MJ starts the digging by saying UCONN has a great Women's Team. The reason that was put in this episode is that the Director wanted to show that at practice MJ was an "balloon knot"-not my words Will Perdue said it. Once practice and games were over that same balloon knot would do anything for his teammates. In a previous episode, as you can imagine tickets were hard to come by because most people assumed Michael was done playing. MJ always had tickets for his teammates even during road games & even for player that weren't starters like Randy Brown.

I took it at a dig towards the UCONN men’s team/Burrell cause they hadn’t won a thing at the time and in fact had sort of fallen short a few times. Personally I didn’t read it as overly complimentary towards the women’s team at all and more just a back handed insult but maybe that was just me.

You know what, you’ve won me over, all these years I thought it was all about winning but now I realize that they only keep score so ESPN can do highlights and what really matters is debating what player was better regardless of era, rule changes, etc. Thanks for the enlightenment.

The last episodes are this coming Sunday. They repeat the earlier episodes immediately before. This is a great, great show and it really gives you tremendous insight into the will, the drive and the work ethic of an extraordinary athlete and basketball player. It is right up there with the best ever in terms of sports documentaries. Watching MJ cry while being filmed when talking about his own persona and the way he acted towards his teammates whom he purposely abused and even ridiculed to get the desired result was truly memorable. Don't miss it.

Really? Funny how Sports Illustrated put him on their all time first team. He was a 5x time League MVP, 11 world titles, cat quick, could block shots from anywhere. Had one focus in mind - winning- and he made everyone else that much better. Only Sam Jones could beat him down the court in a foot race- and Sam was one of the fastest men in the league. Many times I saw him leave his opponent flat footed at the other end of the court as they ripped off another fast break......after a Russell blocked shot. As great and intimidating as Wilt was, Russ is easily #1 of all time.

I'd put West and Oscar ahead of Shaq in a heartbeat. I'm not sure I'd have Shaq in the top 20.

Totally agree. The Big O averaged 26 a game for his career and was the first player ever to average a triple double in a season. Logo averaged 27 a game for his career. BTW, there were no three point shots then and both had great range. The principal reason they didn't have more rings? From 1958-1969 the Celtics won 10 of 11. I would put Russell as #2. Easily the greatest team player in the history of the sport.
 
Final two episodes begin at 9 pm on ESPN. As pointed out, you can stream them but they are also all on ESPN today beginning at 1 pm. Not to be missed.

On the other hand, SVP pushed the theme that Dee and MJ were the same in terms of leadership and leadership style and Dee under the spot light fed that narrative but I actually think Dee was a very positive individual to her teammates (at least at UConn) and would never have pulled some of the MJ stuff.

Of course, allowances should be made between college and the pros but as far as I know, Dee never had to bully anyone to perform.

Well, it turns out that the "Flu Game" was really the 'Food Poisoning Game" and the implication of the show was that it was done intentionally by a pizzeria in Salt Lake City who showed up with 5 guys to make the pizza delivery because they knew who ordered it. MJ also said everyone would have come back to try at a 7th title if Jerry Krause hadn't mouthed off in the beginning of the season. Reinsdorf said it would have been financial suicide to bring everyone back for a 7th and that he told Phil he could come back and coach a rebuilding team. MJ said it was maddening not to go for the 7th. I also thought the ending was great. We found out that Phil made everyone write down what the team meant to them. MJ wrote a poem which we didn't hear. At the end, Phil made them all put what they wrote in can, turned off the lights and burned them.

SVP showed her a lot of respect, which she deserves. She nailed it I thought when she talked about having to give up your life for that kind of greatness.

Michael Jordan was definitely the greatest player I ever saw (in any sport) and I was a Celtic fan..... Sorry but it makes me laugh when people tried to compare LeBron to MJ..... I wouldn't even put LeBron in the same class as Kobe..(who was the second greatest player I ever saw)

Btw,

Since I am a Celtic fan I can unequivocally say that I hated both the Lakers and Bulls.... But the truth is the truth....

Michael Jordan is on a list that only includes Babe Ruth and Ali.... Every other athlete is on a second tier..
