She missed her last shot long because of her forward momentum. I see that a lot on driving layups. Players running hard down the court fail to compensate for the additional force and the layup bounces hard off the backboard and misses everything. It's excusable on a three but drives me crazy when done on a layup.

I love the look on Qadence’s face when she makes that hard drive to the lane. You go girl!!
It won't take much for me to split time between sitting in the front row of Amari's cheering section and Qadence's. I like Qadence.

I want to see Geno wearing his during the games. I loved Caroline's reaction, hope she is past the issues she had last year and shows her real self this season.
I totally agree. I want to see a healthy Caroline play at her best for a full season. That would really be something. I mean, just for the clutch end-of-close-game moments. Picture having 3 or 4 options on the floor to take the high pressure shot. That’s UConn basketball.

But there’s so much else Caroline can contribute. Maybe my favorite part of her game is the shotblocking and the outlet passing.

Paige Bueckers is more dangerous now than at any other time in her life. why?????

She is healthier than at any other time. She's the beneficiary of three years of working out continuously in UConn's weight room under the watchful eye of their trainer. She has matured. Paige will be 22 before the season begins (October 20, 2001) She's not a wide-eyed 18-year-old freshman looking to learn the system and her new teammates. She's not worried about impressing Geno either. She's already done that. This is her team and she knows that. More than anything else, Paige wants to win a championship this year. This is her 4th year in WCBB. She absolutely knows what it's going to take to do it.

She'll be one of the older players on the court for UConn this year. She knows exactly what Geno wants. She's like a coach on the floor. She'll be patient, read the floor, and won't make unforced rookie/freshman mistakes. She'll make good/timely passes to teammates when they are warranted/available, and she'll take her own shots when warranted and available. She's not going to force anything, she doesn't have to. Too many other good shooters on the floor with her. With Paige back at the wheel, team turnovers will go down this year. ;)

Paige's M.O. this year......... give up a good shot for a great shot, especially if one of our players is being double-teamed. Death by a thousand paper cuts. Don't try to win the game in the 1st quarter. Her teammates will follow her lead. Scoring points this year will not be a challenge for UConn. Keeping opponents under control defensively will. THAT'S what I want to see. How dominant will UConn be on the defensive end of the floor? UConn is going to be a lot of fun to watch this year. :D

Wow!!! looks like somebody created a monster. This is something fans of all ages can get into.........including me. Wouldn't you like to have a bracelet from your favorite UConn player? I see endless NIL opportunities here. :)

Most of the off-season talk has been about individual players, either coming off injuries, playing summer ball or potential starters. What I am looking forward to seeing is the synergy of all this talent finally being on the court together. The starters Carnac listed are four seniors/grads and a junior. Ducharme can be included in that group. While some of them have missed playing time due to injury they still have been practicing together for several years and in the case of Bueckers & Fudd, since early in high school. Geno doesn't have to teach those five the system. They know each other and they know all their opponents. They even know all the refs and their "peculiarities". There is little for Geno to do with their offense so I expect there will be a lot of practice time spent on defense.
Defense is mostly anticipation and effort, along with teamwork. They have the effort part down. The fine points are what will make them a great defense. How good UConn is on defense may be up to the bench because great defense burns large quantities of energy. Geno has a wonderfully talented bench this year, along with some question marks but if only half of them live up to their promise UConn will be awesome.
