And a tournament which overincludes is silly. Participation trophies so we all feel special gooder.
Up to your old tricks Patman. Sarcasm and insults are a poor replacement for wit and intelligence. Don't worry, we all still love you(sortof).

I care only about UConn, not some hypothetical dilution of the "product". We all know that every rule change is intended to keep the riff raff like us out of the CLUB and on the street. I will take anything that improves our odds of being a "participant" in the process. How many basketball championships would we lose if the rules for entry into the tournament never changed from the 70's?

I have honestly enjoyed the playoff but one thing i keep thinking about is I think the betting favorite has won all 10 of the first 10 games

Guessing you might be onto something there!! Frightening thought, but certainly not inconceivable.

Generally over a 10 game sample in the playoffs the favorite shouldnt win every time. For reference the NFL favorite are actually 5-5 (might be 6-4 but I forget who was the favorite in the washington/tampa game). In a normal year I would expect the favorites to be in the neighborhood of 7-3 over a 10 game sample

Worth watching as time marches on.

Either Untie the Quarterfinals from the Bowls or untie the Bowls from New Years Day. There is still nearly 2 full weeks between the 1st round and New Years Day as the article currently proposes.

A 4-round tournament should last just over three weeks, beginning to end.

Also get rid of Week Zero.

I think that's ultimately it, its the politicking involving the current bowl game environment. Lets face it, the big 5-6 bowls are effectively dead at this point.

edit: What should happen? the week after the conference title games should be your first round. The rest can be worked from there. If army/navy become a real issue make a clause for army/navy that says the CinC game can be moved until after the CFP if either qualify for it. While it would be funny to see a national champion army/navy get upset by their rival after the title game we're not talking about something that's likely to happen

edit #2: I know Air Force can still win the CinC trophy

I thought the 12-team CFP playoff was a moderate success. I think a lot of people are forgetting how horrifically bad the CFP has been in recent years, and so I don't particularly put a lot of stock into a lopsided championship game. That's basically been the status quo for a decade. In fact, this year's game was the closest since the OT thriller in 2017.

Also, after finding out the IU QB was playing on a torn ACL, I think they were fine to include. Maybe their competition wasn't top tier, but they blew away teams. I feel like if their QB was healthy, they keep up with ND at the very least.

I wish the schedule wasn't as spread out as it was. The CFP needs to resolve well before the NFL division championship games. Honestly, it probably should finish before the semifinals. Also, is Monday night really preferable to a Friday? Or Thursday? Seems like a missed opportunity tbh.

Tough to sustain interest that long if your team isn’t still involved:

“Expanded” for sure…

The FCS Championship game this year was played on January 6th.

Half the players won't be available by then. They are going to kill this golden goose in record time.

It's cute the way it's framed as a "discussion" and "proposals".

They're going to get what they want. Why bother?

BiG and SEC get 4 bids. #1 & #2 get autobids. "Championship weekend" becomes a doubleheader of 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5 to get the other 2 spots.
Same idea for ACC & B12 except they get 3 bids.
Last two for G5 and at-large.

At best they'll keep this semi broken format around as an excuse to get their nonsense later. Byes to aqs i can live with... but reseeding or not seeing the bye teams at 1-4 ought to change
