when i was a bouncer we had god awful karoke nights.....i always tried to get the biggest dudes in the bar to sing either "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" or "Material Girl."

I was successful once.....and it was totally worth it.

I got turned onto ‘Enya’ after buying some clothes at a Burdines down in FL. Apparently after $XX you got a free CD single. It was of ‘Orinoco Flow’.

I just did a Wikipedia check on her discography. Holy crap did she sell a ton of LPs worldwide. 80 million. The shores of Tripoli is that a lot of LPs!

I needed some chill music during my first set of law school final exams and remembered a few songs from the old "pure moods" album commercial...found them on youtube. I was happy.

There is a great Netflix doc about that last tour which is alternately heartbreaking and unbelievably inspirational.

I saw him at the very beginning of his farewell tour. He had monitors below for lyrics. Only forgot what song they were going to do one time. His daughter is quite the musician on banjo, guitar, keys, vocals. They did a cool version of "dueling banjos".

For me it was hearing Caribbean Blue at the end of a Northern Exposure episode. Had to have me some Enya. That song became part of the soundtrack for my 2nd wedding. I know I still have that CD, but haven't played it since the 2nd divorce :)

Bread tunes have a weird effect on me. When I was young, my parents gave me their old "Stereo". It had a turntable, AM/FM and an 8 Track. The only 8 tracks I had available where some old ones of theirs, including The Best of Bread (also greatest hits of America and Jim Croce). So I actually know pretty much every damned Bread song by heart. As a result I tend to start singing along when they come on the radio. Nostalgia is pretty powerful.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Haircut 100. We'll yeah, I can believe it. Summer of '81. This was the go-to cassette in the boom box where a group of young lions and lionesses and I rented a beach house in the Hamptons. Hearing this brings me to a sunny beach, rum and cokes and beautiful young women in bikinis.

Don't get me started on The Go Go's. Our Lips Are Sealed! Belinda!

There's bad bad music and there's good bad music. Bad bad music takes itself seriously. Good bad music is just fun. And both Haircut 100 and Go-Go's are firmly in category 2.

I mean who can really hate on Toto Coelo? Or Bow Wow Wow for that matter.
