At the risk of getting chastised for dragging stuff over from the VN board, the news has just broken:

"The thing is the talent pool in girls basketball is slowly getting better. Besides uconn there is starting to be more parody."

Not sure if that means Weird Al Yankovic is going to do a knock off a WCBB Final Four theme song, but sounds real exciting.

Indeed, the VN is a good place to spend some time today for many threads on UConn, WCBB, and the low state of refereeing in the sport. Always the source of much entertainment.

Regarding the "dragging over" thing - we don't want people dragging insults over here, you know, the comments about our players' appearance, etc. We know there are haters out there; no need to waste our bandwidth on them.

I would say an overwhelming majority of UCONN fans. This is, of course, an unofficial projection on my part, but based on evidence of the sheer number of threads about Tenn, and the amount of views and posts in any given Tenn. thread.

I'm guilty of lurking on Vol Nation, McGraw's Bench, The Devil's Den, and the wonderfully named CockyTalk. At the risk of appearing pitifully sycophantic, the Boneyard, though clearly not lacking in its own bias, whining and utterly blind allegiances, has infinitely more really knowledgeable, thoughtful, humorous, sensitive, entertaining and occasionally;) even analytical posters than all the others combined. And we have moderators who refuse (thank you) to tolerate the offensive, ad hominem attacks on female opponents so often seen elsewhere (though not on TheDevilsDen). And VolNation daily is the unquestioned master of the Norm Crosby malaprop.

I thought that this year's team. At full strength was a FF team. Unfortunately we didn't get to see this team at full strength. Losing Jones and Harrison both in season. The window became very small. I still liked a lot of what this team did. This team was more together. Than the past couple of years. Part of it was experience. Part of it was player improvement. Reynolds did improve a good amount over her first year. The defense was better this year. Looking ahead to next year Russell adds more size in the post. DeShields elite athlete and go to player. Tennessee will play in Italy in August. We will know more then.

stwainfan...... yes you guys had some bad luck with the injuries.... especially with the bigs..... maybe next season will be ur year....

something i was thinking about today re: Tennessee..... it seems that I haven't seen you guys put together a full 40 minute effort in any phase of the game in recent memory, with possible exception of pasting you gave KY a year or two back..... why do you think that is? I have seen great offensive bursts... for a half at a time..... last night it seems that defense at times was smothering in first half .... and second half much looser..... do you think this is accurate assessment..... or just my imagination (runnin' away with me, for you Temptations fans) Just an observation I have not seen mentioned before.....

Some of my favorite Boneyard posts have been so because of delicious malapropisms. Quite often they lead to a long thread of puns and worse. Low comedy, I know, but enjoyable all the same. I can't cite a specific source, but I am pretty sure I have seen "parody" conflated with "parity" here more than once.

I do agree. I think it was overall more consistent this year. I think there could be a number of reasons. The calls from refs, getting comfortable, freshman learning. I do say the defense this year was a lot better.

Couple of questions if you don't mind?

Tennessee has an anemic offense at best. On this I am sure we could agree. So why doesn't Kortney Dunbar or Jannah Tucker play more. I am from Illinois and have seen Dunbar play. She is was one heck of a shooter in high school with a nice stroke and at 6'2 should coulda banged on the inside last night against Maryland? Just curious. Tucker? She was a dynamic scoring guard coming out of high school. I know she was injured and had some personal issues but why hasn't she played much?

Congrats on the elite 8 this season.

I would love to have seen more from Tucker. As far as I understand. She had a clean up surgery on her knee. I think there is still something wrong. I'm not sure what it is. Dunbar looks like a good shooter. I think part her overall game. Also she was a freshman. Players do develop at diffrent speeds. Look at Harrison freshman-senior year. I am interested to see how she improves for next year.

This board is more evenly moderated, which is why I like coming over here. It's amazing some of the terrible things that people say from the safety of their mom's basement.

Zorro I can definitely site an example - my own. In a post attempting to defend Carolyn Peck I stated that she used to coach a Perdue University. High comedy insued. Prompting " I did not realize Carolyn used to coach a bunch of chickens". Was the whole team hen Pecked?. Is there a poultry major at Perdue. I blamed the whole thing on my auto correct feature on my new tablet that I wasn't quite used to yet.
