Some of my favorite Boneyard posts have been so because of delicious malapropisms. Quite often they lead to a long thread of puns and worse. Low comedy, I know, but enjoyable all the same. I can't cite a specific source, but I am pretty sure I have seen "parody" conflated with "parity" here more than once.
But it just seems much more funny when a UTenn fan puts "UConn" and "parody" together. Have to admit I was first thinking about all of those weird dance numbers with Stef and the crew in past years, but Weird Al parodying the MD-UTenn uni show with his Tacky parody certainly does the job.

I occasionally visit the Vol Nation board and it seems to me that while it is still very much present, the overall tone of the UConn and Geno hatred has decreased somewhat over the past few years. But not nearly as much as verbal abuse towards Tennessee has moderated on our board.

I've been pondering this for awhile and it seems to me that for Lady Vol fans, they are still acutely mourning the loss of the era when they were dominant. Whereas for us, we have for some time been the predominant program in WCBB and rather than feeling a loss of something that was ours, we are still enjoying the climb to the mountaintop and staying there.

I know this is pop psychology 101 but I have wo thoughts to conclude with: 1) I am disappointed that Tennessee didn't make it to the Final Four this year. I think that for the long term benefit of WCBB, it will be good for Tennessee has a team that consistently competes at the highest level. 2) I wonder, if and when that day comes, if some of the rancor on the Tennessee side will subside some more.

There is some reasonable chance that UTenn could be among the top four teams next year, though there are still a lot of questions revolving around the Holly\DD interaction and the status of other players. But if UTenn does become again one of the top teams, the main possibility to a behavior change is likely to be on VN, as I don't see much likelihood in the Husky fans and decent handful of Vol fans on the BY undergoing any sea change. I think it likely though that the change on the VN in relation to UConn will likely be for the worse, bringing out more brainless "gule-ish" types and others who absolutely loathe UConn but are now too dispirited to say much beyond complaining that UConn gets all the best players, never plays anyone, but beats everyone by a lot. It's when fans get some hope that things can get ugly, and believe me, the orange checkerboards can get verrrrrrrrrrry ugly in more ways than one.

Zorro I can definitely site an example - my own. In a post attempting to defend Carolyn Peck I stated that she used to coach a Perdue University. High comedy insued. Prompting " I did not realize Carolyn used to coach a bunch of chickens". Was the whole team hen Pecked?. Is there a poultry major at Perdue. I blamed the whole thing on my auto correct feature on my new tablet that I wasn't quite used to yet.

ahem.

I don't understand all this talk of a lack of parity. Why, I've got a pair of tees in my dresser drawer and they are neatly folded. One of them might have the UCONN logo.

Of course every year, Tennessee fans, as they should, get excited over prospects on the upcoming, regarding recruiting class. This year they are exceedingly giddy, with Diamond D activated, Mercedes healed, and rest of class..... I second your question about the Holly/Diamond interaction..... only because she seems like (from the UNC games I saw last year) an individualistic player, tending to create for herself before involving her teammates..... To Tennessee's credit, they seemed to listen to Holly more this year..... rather than blowing her off as they had done..... per Ariel M's comments at the start of the year..... Let's see how they work together as a team.... They have cause to be optimistic..... because it is undeniable that DD is a great talent.

Another thing ..... on the VN and even the Summit, there has been a bit of acknowledgment that CT is pretty good and our coaches can coach.... there is still troubling stuff on there though..... things that our moderator would not let be in print.... my problem with the comments is when they are either 1. profane or 2. factually untrue..... I certainly do not mind comments based on opinion..... ex. CT has no class, we are all class, they get all the best players, do not play tough competition like we do, Geno is an idiot, and he is not half the coach Pat was..... those are all things I could debate, but everyone has a right to their opinion. On the other hand, when talk gets to describing Geno in x-rated terms, or speaking untruths, or speaking about things you think to be untrue, with no substantiation.... but just because Pat said so.... "you know what you did"..... I would consider to be out of bounds. That is just as they say MHO

I for one am excited to DeShields play. She is the most decorated player at Tennessee since Parker. With Reynolds, Carter, DeShields athletic abilities the defense on the perimeter should be real good.

What? That's no fun, and not quite true.

You mean we don't have a right to point dumb or wrong "facts," such as "UConn lost to ND twice last year before winning in the championship game," from that down-south site that has members who haven't quite figured out what unbeaten means yet. But all of us who post stats do tend to harvest the ones that support our pet arguments and ignore ones that are not so convenient, so we do indeed have our own facts.

Hmm. What form do these decorations take? If they are tatoos, that would help to explain why she did not end up at UConn. She would have had to play, mebbe, in yoga pants and a sweatshirt. ;)

I, too, am looking for the return of homegirl Diamond. My guess is she is a big contributor right away, because I honestly don't see anyway she can distort the offense currently being played. If Mercedes is really healthy, you have a very nice blend of size and athleticism that should be a shoe-in for the Elite Eight and an excellent chance at the Final Four if they figure out how to play together. After what UNC accomplished last year, the Lady Vols should be competing with or without Holly.

not really - those are everyone's facts, because they are true. ie factual. Anyone can choose to pick which ones they want to quote tho. Those that post their own 'facts' (like you pointed out, our 2 losses to ND last year) are either delusional, misinformed or so over the top in their fandom that they really think they are true.

I can say this about Mercedes. From the practice clips I have seen. She looks like she is moving with no problem. She has had a good amount of time to recover. Now it's not in a game. I think she will start the season full go.
