It is all about SOS. PC ended the year with a national total SOS of 5. They knew that short of winning the BE last year they would have been out. Vall Ackerman sat down with all the AD's and Coaches and warned each of them to schedule OOC accordingly. For the most part they all listened. It's OK to have some bad teams in your conference. What is not OK is to have these bad teams also have terrible OOC schedules, it just kills the conferences RPI and in turn your own teams, there is nothing you can do about it because you have to play them.
You also have to try as hard as you possibly can to only schedule teams that are in the top 150 RPI. Outside of that it really hurts. Bottom line, all conference teams have to be on the same page, when it comes to OOC scheduling.
