In the short years of the New Big East BB play...They have one national championship with Nova...and Nova was their lone entrant into final fours...

Wisconsin (X2) and Michigan State have made the final four in that period.
I'd be interested in the final eight, as well.

Well...you can look it up...google away. I wasn't interested enough to go that far.
I did, the New Big East is light years behind the Big Ten, PAC 12, ACC, SEC, and Big 12 final eight appearances. What's really disturbing is how former national powers like St John's, Providence, and Georgetown have fallen off a cliff since the breakup of the old Big East. What's also telling is how women's basketball in the New Big East has also crashed.

You mean the Providence that has gone to 4 straight NCAAs?

So Maryland couldn't win anything in the ACC then go to the B1G and win in sports that no one cares about.

Are you sure that you want to go on the record as saying that no one cares about Women's Basketball.

Actually, Maryland had the second most all-sport championships in the ACC, trailing only UNC.

Maryland also had the third most football championships in the ACC, trailing only FSU and Clemson.

Oh give me a break, do you call barely making it into the NCAA with 13 losses good? Including a loss to hapless Boston College. They have not had a really good team since 97. During that time UCONN managed to win a few National Championships IIRC.

Maryland went 2-23 against FSU in the ACC. And did win one ACC football championship since FSU joined in 1992....that one great season in 2001 (the Terps still lost by 21 points to FSU).

FSU lost two conference games that year while Maryland lost the one to FSU

Edit...Maryland went 2-20...against FSU..1992-2014...I messed up the data...

OT....

You have to love a team like Davidson...who just knocked off a national seed twice at their own field to go to a Super Regional...and with just three baseball schollies.

Been a while, but Steph Curry took their BB team on a Cinderella ride to the Sweet 16 back in 2008.

It's a great run - hope they make a ton of noise. To clarify - Baseball is an equivalency sport w/ a maximum of 11.7 scholarships awarded @ D1 level. Only three of Davidson's starters and 12/13 other players on the roster (out of 35) are getting any "baseball money" from Davidson’s baseball scholarship resources. Partial scholarships tend to be the norm in college baseball.

How has the NBE been worse than the OBE for Providence? That was the point of your post......

Not at Davidson....You don't quite have that down....

The odds are stacked against him and Davidson every year (not that he complains, mind you). NCAA Division I baseball teams get a maximum of 11.7 scholarships to divide among their 35 players.

That’s the maximum. The Atlantic 10 schools with which Davidson competes average giving nine baseball scholarships per school, according to statistics supplied by Davidson.

And the Wildcats?

They give out less than three total baseball scholarships among those 35 players, and then they cut up those three scholarships into roughly a dozen pieces. That means two-thirds of Davidson’s baseball players – as well as two-thirds of the starting lineup and the likely starting pitcher against UNC in the NCAA tournament game Friday night – receive no athletic scholarship aid .

Isn't that essentially what I said? One third of of starting lineup = 3.

... and this source has slightly different #/s than yours. >>"Consider the roster. By Cooke’s count, only three of his starters and 12 to 13 players on his roster are getting any baseball money from Davidson’s limited scholarship resources".<<

What does UMD's all time record against FSU in football have to do with the stats that the poster listed? I won't bother to look it up, but I'd wager most ACC Members outside of Miami have a *** all time record against FSU in football. UMD's head to head record with FSU in one sport doesn't discredit the stats he listed or change the fact that UMD has a very strong all around athletic department.
