The Athletic - College Football Playoff 2025 projections

Indiana broke through the bubble in week 5 and is a top 4 contender week 7. Is that justified? Maybe.

Beat ODU, Kennesaw State, Indiana State
Beat Illinois, Iowa, Oregon. Of course the Oregon win was huge and the rest of the schedule is pretty soft for a Big Ten schedule. Indiana could very well run the table if it is that good
Michelle State, UCLA, MD, PSU, Wisc, Purdue
So three of their wins are true FCS Indiana St; slightly FBS Old Dominion and even more slightly FBS Kennesaw St?

I'm a bit less impressed with them than I was before seeing your post.

Yes, the Oregon win holds value but they had better not hit any bumps in the road.

I'm also beginning to think they may have been a bit hasty with Cignetti's new contract

They beat ODU week one, week 2 was Kennesaw St 56-9, week 3 was Indiana St 73-0... They didn't just beat the FCS and newest FBS teams, they beat them like a top team is supposed to beat them, which is to say they destroyed them.

Wouldn't be surprised if IU wins out. Their first real challenge should be the B1G championship.

UCLA is 2-0 with the new coaches and unknown how good they are. Also PennSt s last chance to have anything good happen this year would be a win at home next month. Still a lot of talent on that roster.

Indi will prob be double digit favorites in both but those are the ones to watch.

It's his second new contract in as many years (and yes he's only been there two years, it's his third deal with them, they ripped it up mid-season last year to hold onto him, just as they did this year)... if he gets Indiana to the playoffs back-to-back, they're paying market rate (Indiana's schedule the rest of the way is not super challenging.. especially if Penn State continues reeling, suddenly hot UCLA may be their toughest game left). Keep in mind his 17 wins in the last season and a half are more than they had the previous four seasons combined (which included a bowl appearance in 2020).

Between Auburn, Florida, Penn State, UCLA there is no doubt that someone would've backed up the truck to pay at least that for him.
