If Diaco wants to play head games with Boyle and put Foxx out there...
Not sure I get why it was playing head games"? If they have been running packages for Foxx in practice, why not try it in a game situation (game was long decided by then).

Why?! He's the guy next year. Most experienced QB on the roster in 2015.
why? Because Diaco isn't playing him. Boyle has to be the guy now. Need to know what we have for next year. Why blow the RS if your not going to play him. Maybe they should have realized that with this O-Line a qb that can't run won't survive so they should have just gone to Foxx earlier and saved his RS. Well you blew that, so play Boyle already. We have 2 weeks to prepare for Tulane, if Boyle isn't the starting QB I don't know what the heck this coaching staff is thinking.

My only question of using Foxx as a wildcat in garbage time is that it puts it on film for Tulane. Could've kept it a secret, practiced exclusively for 2 weeks over the bye and then roll out similar to Miami catching the Patriots with their pants down a few years back.

But let's be realistic, film or no film - our offense is going to struggle all year against every single defense that we play against.

You can't send Chandler out there again as the starter. If Diaco wants to play head games with Boyle and put Foxx out there then he should transfer, who wouldn't. Build for the future starts against Tulane. It's time to see what Boyle can do with the rest of the year.

Because he was 3rd in line and they burned his redshirt already is all Medic. Going to Foxx now would really mess with Tim's head IMO. I can't wait for the day when UConn has QB's that can be a real threat to run or pass. For now though put TB in shotgun and run read option with the faster backs we have at his side.

Gotcha - not advocating Foxx starting, didn't see the harm with the situation today.

If healthy - Boyle should get the nod over Whitmer. Two weeks to prepare.

Hmm. The #1 QB is gone for good with head injuries. The O line is awful. Could well be the coach has decided that he's not going to risk the career of another young QB until the line shows some ability to hold off a pass rush on a consistent basis. We'll probably soon find out.

One thing that has happened that is a negative trend is the absence of some more imaginative play calling that seemed to have happened in the first few games. This is a team that might need more gimmick plays to help out in light of the inept O line.

Fact is, we have an inexperienced coach, with the leftovers from a crappy team, the QB who led them to 3 victories over 3 bad teams is gone (granted so is the interim HC). The D has been decent, but on the field way too much. Whether or not the coach is responsible for every bad penalty the team takes is open to question. The 2 procedure calls in a row after a favorable break is on the linemen. The offsides on the kickoff is a call we've seen more of this year, and it's probably a half beat early departure. Today it was glaring because it took away a TD on a horrible play by the Temple return guy, followed by the worst defensive series all day. Whitmer's 1st drive INT was a god awful pass, no doubt. The throw had to be at worst, overthrown. That aside, there were way too many situations where there was no pocket. Why does anyone think Boyle would get any better pass protection and not be on his rear end way too much?

@NHRJimFuller: #UConn QB commit Tyler Davis threw for 143 yards & 2 TDs, ran for 373 and 3 TDs in win over Elmont Memorial http://post original url/z5WcGwRGjT

Does Whitmer deserve the blame for his own ineptitude?

Have stated multiple times he is not the answer because of his physical limitations and pocket presence and running into trouble, forcing the ball etc.. Thought I'd take a break from that.

Problem is they'll be giving him the same or condensed version of the Alabama offense without the Alabama personnel. Two weeks isn't necessary unless you plan on giving him some options and spreading things out. Shotgun, speed, deception.

No more Whitmer. No more Boyle. No more conventional QB. We don't have an OL to block for a conventional offense so it's time to shift to a non-conventional offense. Wildcat Foxx and play read-option on every single play. Put WRs in motion to add more option wrinkles. Throw the ball maybe 2 or 3 times per game with Foxx or a halfback. Then take cover and hope that 2015 comes soon enough.
Absolutely Dooley....Time to go with the read option. We have no OL. WR's in motion every play. Read option in an up-tempo....I'd increase the throws but high percentage throws. TE's and backs.

Make no mistake, he plays in a very weak football conference. This doesn't mean he can't play, just means you can't extrapolate much.

Arkeel Newsome wom multiple state titles and is CT's all time leading rusher. FBS is a whole new ball game, I hope Davis is the real deal, but I would not expect him to contribute for a couple of years at the minimum.

First choice, live with Boyle and make him feel like the leader of this team for the rest of the season.

Second, Wildcat with Foxx and hope Boyle and at least 1 WR stays for next year if we need a Hail Mary.

Go with Boyle, because 1. you aint winning Whitmer and 2. Whitmer isn't part of the "future" in any way.

Take your lumps with Boyle. He is football player, he isn't made of porcelin, adopt a quick passing game ala TJ Weist last year and move on. This nonsense of "Chandler gives us the best chance to win", when that chance is zero needs to end. I get the kid is tough, but he is not good and won't be here next year, so sorry but NEXT!

I saw Boyle get sacked pretty good and it looked like his head bounced off the ground pretty hard. I have a feeling that is more the reason he isn't playing that much. Diaco is in a real bad spot right now. Already lost one QB to concussion and might lose two more the same way before the season is over. Those coaches have to be pulling their hair out trying to figure a way to get the O-line to block anybody. Whitmer is probably a lot better QB than he has shown but the guy is constantly being bull rushed and nobody is stopping it. But I think Boyle probably is recovering from and injury and the coach just isn't going to takes chances. That's my gut feeling anyways.

The future is now. No more with Whitmer and it is time to start Boyle.

I am starting to lose faith in HCBD in his decision making.

I swear this O-Line must be driving Foley crazy. As many have stated he didn't suddenly forget how to coach. Therefore they are either just terrible or someone else has their hands in the pot stirring the wrong way.

If a true freshman starts for this team next year, we are in big trouble.

I don't get all this concussion crap. Let me start by saying I'm not downplaying the seriousness of concussions. Casey made the absolute correct decision.

However, how come we don't hear of ANY OTHER team who won't play any other QB because they're worries he might get a concussion and he's the future of the program. Sorry but that's a load of BS and there's a whole lot more going on here. If he's seriously not playing Boyle because he's worried he might get concussed then Diaco is not the right man to lead any team. I'm really hoping that isn't his train of thought.

Give us slants and quick passes and let the receivers do their job like they did the last 3 games of last year when TJ put those plays in.

If the only hope we have to beat Tulane is to surprise them we have no hope at all.

Maybe he doesn't want to kill what little confidence he has with this god awful line, might be a bad thing going forward... Just a thought

The same way Orlovsky's confidence was killed during his freshman season? Please.

.-.
Wasn't following UCONN then fill me in

This is from Wikipedia but it has been talked about here before.

Orlovsky threw for 1,379 yards and nine touchdowns on 128 of 269 passing (47.6 percent) while being intercepted 11 times. This year the team went 2-9

Starting every game as a sophomore, Orlovsky hit on 221 of 366 attempts (60.4 percent), with 19 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. His 2,488 yards passing rank fourth on the school's season-record list. Year 2 the team went 6-6. This was when the team was playing as an independent before joining the Big East.
