Can someone fish Waylon out of the Cesspool? When he is more active people focus on hating him. It's a nice break.

I have been working on the mother of all "I told you so" posts where I point out that I have hated Manuel from the start, thought Diaco was in over his head from the start, saw that Manuel's petulant 8 month contract for Ollie would kill basketball recruiting for 2 years, and that not going with the basketball schools in conference realignment was a massive mistake. But Palatine and Zoo keep posting nonsense on the Cesspool and it is hard to focus on 4 boards at once.

Kevin Ollie was on a 1 year contract for 106 days. His contract extension came 47 days after his first win.

The hand-wringing about the 1 year contract is so fahking stupid. The staff had to deal with recruiting restrictions, and frankly hasn't had a good record closing on recruits. They have to get better. It's insane to argue that a 15 year old was so concerned about Ollie's future he ruled us out because of the 106 days where the coach was without a long-term contract, but now that 17 year old kid doesn't care about the long term deal Ollie has.

Figures. Dan clamps down on anyone posting in the 1k thread with too many posts. But someone with less than 5k is pre-refuting Waylon's post and he is nowhere to be found.

He'll be back. Unfortunately.

I was hoping Zoo would step up for this one, but clearly, he's too busy enjoying the caviar in the champagne room...

I really hate rules and think since I have read over 5000 posts I think that I can reply. I have nothing of substance to add other than off season sucks.

Another EBMF (Everyone but Manuel's Fault) poster.

Is Marshawn Lynch your role model?

You're so predictable.

1) Make ridiculous comment.
2) When challenged with a logical argument, respond by addressing the poster rather than the post.
3) Check the weather at www.waylonsfantasyland.com.

While you gather your thoughts here are some fun facts (give or take a day or two).

Kevin Ollie had a 1 year contract for 106 days. (9/13/12 - 12/28/12)
Then Kevin Ollie had a 5 year contract for 510 days (12/28/12 - 5/22/14)
Kevin Ollie is currently on day #258 of his 1,825 day contract with UConn worth roughly $15 million. (5/22/2014 - 5/22/2019).

Tell us again how that 106 days was so much more important than the 768 days since, which included a National Championship by the way.

Or why those 106 days were far more important than the 120 days (over 3 years) of off campus recruiting they lost combined the one fewer coach being allowed to make recruiting calls.

You don't have to like Manuel, but pinning recruiting on him is b@tsh4t crazy.

I'm sorry, but as someone with more than 1,000 posts, but fewer than 5,000 posts, you're not allowed to have an opinion.

You'll have to wait for the 1,001-4,999 thread.

canada sucks
But....hockey is their national sport!

Speaking of message board meltdowns, anyone check out the Seahawks' board after the Super Bowl? :D They had to alter/delete a lot of posts.

The "It's a good time to draw the line ..." thread has turned into a moderator only thread because they are the only ones who can unlock the thread, post, and re-lock it. It was added to on 4 separate occasions since it's been locked.

Damn it! Why tell me that. Now I have to go look.

Pudge is still trying to carry on in another thread. Enough already.

I was happy to learn that because Kendall Reyes and Scott Lutrus were good that means it's ok to not recruit highly regarded players.

Stupid Rutgers and their somewhat well regarded classes - I mean they only keep going bowling every year and had a 7-5 season in their first Big 10 season.

It is starting to read like a Greg Easterbrook's column - you don't want highly recruited GLORY BOYZ!

As if not having highly rated recruits is part of 'the right way'.

Does it make me a bad 5ker if I'll be on campus at 4 PM but will be in Ted's instead of the Burton?

Not unless they are serving booze to the press. You gotta get your spot at the bar to properly pre-game the for on campus basketball games, and the press conference will be on the TV in all likelihood. It's a good compromise. FWIW (which I don't believe to be much), as a poster approaching 6,200, I approve.

Now I've lost my train of thought again. I may leave this thread someday. Not quite yet, however, Harumph.

I feel so left out. There's just no place to be negative for us 1,001-4,999 post guys anymore.

To be honest, I've gone from following this recruiting stuff closely, to being turned off by it, to not following it, and now I'm just baffled by it. How anyone can follow this stuff just blows my mind.

I follow the main thread for position & player size and I eat it up on NLI day. But I rarely watch the highlight film or comment in between. It's basically a PS3 game for me until the first Wednesday in February, plus it gets annoying to scroll through Medic's 149 name list every 4 posts;). Especially on a smartphone.

Recruiting is so fluid, it's ridiculous. Plus, How anyone can tell what the next 4 years will bring a kid based on 6 1/2 minutes of the kid's absolute best plays against inferior players is beyond me. Regardless of star rating, these are the best players on their high school field. They are not playing against their peers.

Sir, would you be so polite as to leave? Thanks.
