The “New” PAC12

I believe SMU is no longer affiliated with the Methodist church and is a private school
Similar to Boston University and Syracuse, SMU was established by Methodists. It’s as Methodist as BU and Cuse. Not in the least say 2 recent SMU alumni from NY state. They are a cousin’s children and received very generous scholarships.

Now coke, a la at not very Christian TCU, they suggest quite a religious following exists among some portion of SMU’s uber affluent student body.

Most private schools in the US began as religious, secondary education institutions (including many of the Ivy's and the BE's Butler) but quite a few that were protestant faiths became secular.

I'm not sure that it is all that important these days (unless a school requires students to strictly adhere to certain religious guidelines). For what it's worth I'm very confident that we weren't the only member of the BE this past season that had practicing Muslims on its basketball team.
