What screen? Russel was running down court after an inbounds pass and Atkins angled over and just flat ran into her back. And if you watch the replay you can see Atkins close her eyes and flinch right before she hit her making it looking inexplicably intentional. Weird or the clumsiest play of the game. Probably both.

Texas will be a different team by then if Joyner Holmes is back and in shape..........Tenn killing Texas on offensive glass, not happening if Holmes is playing........

Look again at that play. Russell looked back and saw Atkins coming. Russell stopped in Atkins path and leaned back a bit.

Where is Boothe? Didn’t she say she was going to score more than 30 points per game? :rolleyes::cool:
 
But what is most bothersome for Texas is the lack of fundamentals: Poor boxing out, missed layups, lack of execution on both ends, lazy screens, poor basketball decisions in the half court, poor basketball decisions on the break, the inability to keep your man in front of you on defense, poor cutting on offense, bad hands trying to rebound. On and on.
 
This version of Lady Vols still don't like to pass the ball...especially if Hayes has the ball.

Both bigs foul out and still no Boothe. All in all, if it continues like this, it's undeniable that this is a big win for Tennessee. The players will celebrate, but both coaches will watch the film and know the truth.
 
3 on 1 break and you can't make a stupid pass! Terrible - just flat out terrible.

I cannot believe Texas is the second best team in the land, just amazing to me.
 
There have been some extremely dumb plays by both teams down the stretch.

I didn't think Russell's screen was a dirty play - Atkins needs to keep her eyes open. My general take on this game:

- Each team has 9 assists - lost of dribbling/not much passing.
- TN has gotten away with several blatant travels. Particularly Nared in the 3rd quarter - 3 steps to the basket while not even pretending a dribble continuation, was holding the ball against her stomach with both hands.
- TN more energetic and aggressive after rebounds. Just plain lack of effort from Texas in some cases. If anyone deserves to win, it's probably TN - for effort.
