I'm always bummed at news like this - I like seeing our bench guys get better and having some four-year successes from people who become UConn guys for life. Some of my favorite stories are of the guys like Rashamel Jones ending up with the ball at the end in 1999, or someone like Giffey, who could have decided he wasn't getting enough minutes and turned pro in Europe after his sophomore year. If Giffey transferred/went back to Europe at the end of the 2012 season, nobody would have really batted an eye, but in 2014, he was vital to our title.

Samuel at least will always be on the list of our role players who came up bigger than expected when the lights got brighter and gave unexpected contributions to a deep tournament run. There are certainly worse legacies.

God bless.
TSam did what a lot of those Kentucky one and dones failed to do. He won a national championship.
He was just over his head at this level. A transfer is smart move. He can play a lot of ball and hopefully get a degree without a lot of pressure.

I always liked TSam. I hope he goes to a program where he can excel. Don't know if he has next level talent but... hope he gets the chance to find out. Godspeed...

Its best for both sides, this ones tough but its life. Once a husky always a husky thank you for your 2 years and of course last years national championship. He had his flaws but he has the heart of a champion, best of luck wherever you go. I liked the fact that he wanted to punch a Lville player in the hand shake line last year that showed me something about his heart.

This sucks! I really liked TSam. Id rather another Sam had transferred. Best of luck Tsam and thank you for an exciting though short uconn career. Your a champion.

The inventor of the UCONN sweep during the NC run. Long may the tradition continue!

EDIT: Hmm not working.
I'm fearful that our overzealous posts regarding Gibbs, myself included, angered the Mojo Gods, and thus, they have removed the living mojo in the form of T-Sam from our Dawghouse. I hope we can get back on the better side of things.

I suspect KeV will be coming if he gets released from Florida.

Best News I've Heard in Awhile!!!
He did help us win a championship.
but too be Honest..
I am glad he is leaving and wish him the very best.
does not mean Gibbs is coming. Doesn't he and Adams play same position?

You're an awful human being.

A post like that without a quote to tell us just whom it is that is an awful human being is pretty weird. Don't know if you did it that way, or if the filters remove the quote from people on my ignore list, many of whom are there because they kinda-sorta fit your description.

Horrible news. He's the type of player that peaks in his senior year and that you want coming off the bench and for depth chemistry and continuity.

This is the part of CBB but I can also understand. All players want minutes--I guess Id rather get my minutes with a different college if my coach cant guarantee that I will be in the running for 15-20. No matter what this is a negative but I wish Terrance the best and I thank him for the help he gave the team.

I did quote another member's post, but I'd be willing to wager money that he is indeed on your ignore list.

This is kinda sad. I thought he could be a solid 2nd unit guy next season but we all have to realize that sometimes guys would rather fight for playing time elsewhere . My take on this situation is that we may quietly have two more new players coming in next year. Good luck Terrance Samuel and hopefully your game improves and you transfer to a situation that allows us to see you play a few games.

Welp, time to change the avatar.

Right now I don't give a damn about what this "means" about Gibbs or someone else coming in, I'm just sad this great kid is leaving. We probably don't beat Villanova in 2014 without him, and he loved UConn and had as much heart as anyone we've had here. Gonna miss you, T-Sam.

.-.
Why do some guys always think the worst at every move at UConn?

Is that a Connecticut gene? Thankfully, most of you made it recessive.
I believe it is. I was born and raised in CA before moving to CT and don't believe I'd experienced it before, or since.

I'm really surprised by this. He just seemed like a UConn lifer. It does make me wonder if in addition to Adams, there's another guard being added for 2015/16. If not, he'd likely be getting plenty of PT next season. Even with his flaws, I really like TSam and will miss him. I wish he all the best. Wherever he lands, that program is getting a class guy and hard-worker who will instill a high work ethic with his teammates.

Its always sucksto hear news like this. I will always remember fondly his contributions (especially in our championship run) but I also recognize that this may be in his best interests. Good luck TSam! You will always be a champion.

Agreed for all he could and could not do on court he was an extremely likable kid who stayed out of trouble, represented the university with class and maturity. I remember being at a football game and my then nine year old was staring at a group of ball players in awe and out of nowhere Terrence sees this and comes up to my son and introduces himself and starts albeit a short but nice conversation. Always rooted for the kid and will continue to in his post uconn career. Thank you tsam...all the best!
