Some interesting points:

Paraphrase: We have to start completely over like its the first game, practice of the season, its just BB

'They had chances to win (obviously) missed layups, foul shots.

The D got worse as the lead slipped away in the 3rd quarter. She said that when they were going well in the first half, the D was better; sucking the life out of KY

No one is dominating in D in the paint, for all their size, smaller players feel they can just waltz in.

The big girls are not getting the ball in a position to shoot; Graves only took 5 shots all game.

About Diamond she says...She trying to hard to adjust to an alien system... just let her play her game...
You brought her here. You should have known what she brings, can and cannot do.

Conclusion: She (Margo) seems closer to blaming the coaching for at least part of the problem.

To those folks who keep suggesting this team is underperforming and have more talent than they've shown, I say wrong. I've watched more UT games this year than I ever have before and I've yet to see them play 4 decent quarters in a game. Every single point Margo makes could apply to literally every UT game this season. That's just who they are! The Kentucky game was a microcosm of their season... 1st quarter they actually looked like a top-10 team, 2nd quarter just so-so, 3rd quarter and first 5 minutes of the 4th were ugly.

thanks for posting, I'll watch it tonight!

Well, where did the damn talent GO? These kids had talent in HS.

Well, just to speculate, and this is clearly my own speculation... the talent was probably slightly overrated, but mostly it's still there. Unfortunately, it's completely undisciplined and that falls on the coaching staff. What's the old adage attributed to Vince Lombardi, "Practice does not make perfect, only perfect practice makes perfect". I'm reminded of the video last year where Geno had Stewie repeating the same drill over and over until she got it right. I'd bet the UT coaching staff doesn't demand that same commitment in their practices.

Pat's F4 teams played good Defense, Terrors on the boards and most especially they usually had a dominant player like Parker, Catchings, Holdsclaw etc. The last few years they haven't had that dominant player that could take over a game when they need it. This year, most thought based on Diamond's freshmen year, that she would be that player. Many thought she would have stats that would garner some votes for player of the year and definitely All American. Don't see either of that happening unless Diamond has a great last half of the season.

Until the Lady Vols start recruiting elite players they'll be just another good team that's in competition for Sweet 16's and/or Elite 8's. 2017 has to be a great class with at least one dominant player if the Lady Vols want to get back to the F4 in the next two or three years. Not counting this year. They also need to sign a top rated JUCO player for next year. Preferably a Point Guard like Shannon Bobbitt was for them. Without her Parker doesn't get her last National Championship.

Margo is a loyal fan and I admire her steadfastness (as well as her ability to sit through Tennessee games) but she's wrong about Diamond being allowed to do her thing. I think that's exactly what's happening now so Diamond is doing what she did in high school and at North Carolina simply because no one has ever told her not to or, if they did, they never taught her what she should be doing. If she had a decent teacher, wow, the mind boggles at what a player she could be.

Would you start a player who had 8 turn overs last game? Holly will. Her moniker is DD and she can apparently do no wrong in Holly's eyes. Even when she pouts and loafs.

Thanks for the written summary. That was great. She is very knowledgeable, but sometimes I cant watch the videos.

Maybe not the best choice of words, but we all know the feeling, about those opposing players that have just a touch too much swagger (and back it up!) And we probably idealize a player who gave our opponents the exact same feeling - DT was always looking to punch something orange!

Tempest in a teapot. No one listening could interpret that a call for violence.

And Fiftyish - you nailed it. Very inappropriate choice of words in the thread title.

like Angel, Epip, and Diggins... but I never ever wanted to punch them in the face, guess Im not a diehard UConn fan

I understand exactly what he was saying, and have felt that passion numerous times in life. Hockey fans know exactly what I mean. Hell, I may even have felt tinges of that about Kara Lawson while at Tennessee. Never once was I afraid that any sensible person would mistake that for actionable intent. To me his statement was of admiration, not aggression. He reacted as if women in sport were to be perceived like men, as fierce competitors, not granddaughters.

"That’s one of those players where, if she plays for you, you love her, and if she plays for the other team, you just want to put your fist through her face.”

And no, nothing I have said above condones violence against women, or anyone else for that matter.

Fair enough. My objection, if it can be called that, is to the language and imagery created by commercial media in order to aggregate, then aggrevate their audience. Sports media are trying to take the unfortunate example of political talk shows and apply the same or even greater levels of vitriol, hyperbole, and just plain hate speech.

I am almost 100% opposed to government censorship of communication. I just wish those having media platforms would think before they speak and employ something akin to the golden rule. I know that plan doesn't have a "puncher's" chance.

exactly, saying it in your living room with spouse next to you if a lil different than broadcasting it out over national airwaves.

how would you feel if someone said that about your daughter whom they have no relation to and is considered "the enemy".

There are plenty of opposing players I don't like and like to get onto during games, but even suggesting that somebody should be punched is highly inappropriate and deserves some disciplinary action.

He really didn't suggest hitting anyone, not remotely.

Come on, this is ridiculous.
He used a colorful way to describe frustration with the great performance of another player.
He didn't suggesting hitting someone.
Maybe it's not how you or I would say it, but the outrage is outrageous.
If I were the player, her team or her family, I would be proud that my play inspired the opposition to dislike me so much.
Overblown.

I'm sure this idiot had condoned the actions of his Lady Vols for years. Sore loser. He could have gotten his point across in a lot of different ways. He should face disciplinary action but probably won't.

Totally agree your points.
Diamond does score some points but her TO and selfish is hurting Tenn more.
