Tennessee Recruiting Post-Holly (when it happens)

Holly was all those things before the present recruits signed with UT, including Horston, but they still were willing to commit. I don't understand it.
Well fret no more. I expect Holly's resignation to be accepted by Wednesday, and no later than Wednesday after. Then let's watch the jailbreak of sophomores and LOI signees become a grab bag.

Only a few minutes after Lady Vols loss, Mechelle Voepel writes:
In August, Warlick received a three-year contract extension, which takes her through the 2021-22 season. The question remains, though, about whether Tennessee will part with Warlick before then.

Women's NCAA tournament 2019: Tennessee's disappointing season ends in first round

During the broadcast the announcers basically said Holly off season plan is to double down on Lady Vols tradition and getting back to boot style camps and more things like running outdoors like the Lady vols use to due under Pat. Is Holly really that delusional?
There was also an odd embrace between Cori and Holly at the end of the game. More like dead man walking so I'm going to give you a hug just in case.

She wrote it before the game started.

Is permissible to celebrate by drinking milk?
In my case it's almond milk, although I may actually stretch with a quad caramel macchiato, stomach permitting of course.

Anything new on the Ayana Mitchell front?

Nope but the team meeting at the end of the year was spicy from what I heard. The team was pissed off that the coaches didn't want to play in the WNIT. Many of the players felt like the coaches "gave up" on them.

I don't think we hear anything about a transfer until after the NCAAT is over. That is how it unfolded with Chloe Jackson. Praying she doesn't leave but I know she was a bit frustrated with how the team has been run.

There is currently a lot of heat around the program right now. The boosters and other close to the program are working to get Nikki out. Its not a pretty situation right now.

LSU will gladly take her off Tennessee's hands
I have to think that if she does ask for a release from her LOI then UConn is further toward the top than the potential dumpster fire brewing at LSU.

Interesting

Interesting
If this is truly the case & not post game blather, than these players should transfer. The notion after 7 years Holly is going to see the light and become a good coach to develop & utilize the players more effectively is very very very vey very very unlikely.

This is actually the rumor on the Lady Vols board

FWIW, volnation is almost uniformly taking Westbrook's side on this one, saying Holly threw them under the bus twice a week when they would lose and it's time to speak up and get Holly sent packing. Can't disagree...

I really think Holly deserves another year or ten. All kidding aside, how many WBB powers have remained constant over multiple coaches? In that regard, there is a big difference between MBB and WBB. I really can't think of many WBB programs that have maintained consistent, high level winning with multiple coaches. Anyone else?

Does anyone know what the first question the one she refused to answer?
Apparently, from what I’ve read, the reporter dogged Westbrook with the “should Holly go?” question until she answered

For what it's worth, I am sure Evina's feelings were very near the surface. I understand she was vulnerable after the painful loss but she must have been thinking along those lines for a very long time. And you generally do not go 'nuclear' unless you voiced these concerns many times behind closed doors.

Whatever her answer, as I've continually said, it appears Holly's resignation which is sitting on Fulmer's desk, will be accepted perhaps as soon as Monday morning.

That makes no sense. There's a buy-out in her contract. If she resigns she gets nothing. If she is fired, she gets money. Why would she walk away from money? On Saturday she said she wants to continue coaching and the decision is out of her hands. This one is in Fulmer's lap.

She said she'd like to continue coaching. That doesn't necessarily mean at UT. She resigned as coach at UT. Instead she'll take a post with the AD's office fulfilling her contract.

Who is the source for this?

Honestly there are a lot of sources that say the same thing. I predicted the Wednesday after the Vols 2nd round ouster, but it appears everything is coming earlier.

So we must be talking Volnation sources.

I guess we'll see but the scenario you describe still makes no sense. If Holly offers her resignation -- a move she all but said she will not make -- then any sensible AD would say thank you for what you've done for the Lady Vols for 30+ years. A sensible AD would not say thank you and to show our appreciation we'll continue to pay you (for something) AND pay for a new coach. Tenn is paying buyouts in other sports and is not so flush with cash that Fulmer would do that. Plus, why would Holly want to hang around when she is not the coach.

If she's fired, she'll take her buy-out and move on.

Not saying I buy the rumor, but it’s not uncommon IIRC for a position in the AD to be used in the negotiations to get a coach to resign instead of getting fired. Think of it as spreading the buyout out over multiple years.
