Tennessee 2025, part 2

The good thing for the Lady Vols going into these last three games of the SEC regular season is that all three teams are beatable. The bad thing is that those same three teams are also capable of beating the Lady Vols. I hope the Lady Vols get things figured out.
OU is a weird team. They capable of losing as much as winning to a lot of teams

I don’t see TN beating LSU in the pmac tbh. Frankly the way LSU runs it could be a long day for them if they keep the press on or get back in transition. That may be a 15-20 point loss.

Vandy at home. Sure TN talent wise could do it but if they can’t beat A&M at home and has been getting blown out in all these games hard to think they’ll get it done. It’s senior night so maybe that provides a spark

When you depend on a Freshman, ANY Freshman, you’re going to have highs and lows. I mean there have been games where the number of shot attempts might make you conclude that Beers is the freshman and Chavez is the upperclassmen. I think in a recent game Beers had FIVE shot attempts for the game. That’s coaching malpractice.

Very early on, I speculated that Tennessee’s “system” was not going to be successful. However, I thought it would result in occasional upsets, blowout wins of quad four teams and mostly close losses to good teams. If this team was truly recruited to play the way Coach Caldwell wants to play, and not just the best they could get with the money they had, then it’s an epic disaster. Athletes pick colleges for all kinds of reasons, but I can’t imagine signing up for this mess. This spring should be interesting.
I'm running out of reasons to defend Coach Kim, but this freshman class is her first recruiting class. For her system to work they need to make more of the 3pt shots she has them taking....so she'll be trying to recruit better shooters.

While I'm at it 😁 her hockey line substititions are exactly that. Her theory is that 10 players playing 2 minute shifts full speed will slowly run down a team with starters playing 30 minutes. She explains this to her players, and in her early season press conferences.

Caldwell by the way knows enough basketball to understand if her system is simply wrong for good ball handling, fit, athletic teams in the SEC. Assuming she gets year 3, she may yet come around to making some changes.

Always fun to watch all the smoke.

Yeah, these three remaining games for the Lady Vols could go either way. The wins, or losses, are there for the Lady Vols just depends on the Lady Vols mindset. Team or Individual.

Ouch. NGL, three teams in four years, and now this, is concerning.

Just from my observations of her over the years but I'm guessing she took out her distaste for that A&M loss on her own teammates. I love her passion but she crashes out in unhealthy ways when she gets frustrated.

7 losses in last 9 games how is Tenessse ranked you cannot tell me there’s no SEC bias in these polls. Nova should be ranked as well as their men’s team.

There’s not even an 8 loss team in the top 25 and TN is the sole 9 loss team. TN did have a 10 loss team that won a natty. I think.

But but but they played UConn and SC lol. If a ranked BE team was in the top 25 and lost 7 of 9 do they even sniff the receiving votes category.

They (Tennessee coaches) knew about Janiah (her reputation precedes her) but decided that recruiting stats and landing big names were more important.
In various mock drafts, she's listed at 12, 15, however, there's a lot of noise right now.

To me, she’s a prime example of the portal needing restrictions. One time is fine, but anything after should be a required one year sit out.
I agree 100%

Wow, there’s a good chance they finish the regular season on a 6 game losing streak.

You will be happy there is a new Poll tomorrow. 😁

Vols will only be in the bottom section, Dropped from Poll.

How is TN feeling about the LSU game on road Thursday?

I wonder if Janiah will play. She has been very vocal about not liking LSU at all going back to her days at A&M

I’ve watched the last three games (with a jaundiced eye) in an attempt
to decipher the workings of UTenn’s offensive sets (other than the line changes)
and have come to the conclusion that (essentially) there aren’t any.

There is absolutely no mid-range game; zero, zip.

-it’s either: force your way in for a layup and/or if you get the rebound, repeat the
former instruction…or
-If that doesn’t work, chuck a 3 (from the corner, preferably).

That’s it; 95 % of their shots

Who needs coaches? I could tell them that.

The obvious solution is for Tennessee to money-whip Kara Lawson into returning to her alma mater. That begs the question: would she leave Duke, a program she built, a great brand, to come “ home” and fix the dumpster fire that the Volunteers currently are?
My guess? No. She has Duke on a great trajectory, and the path to the top of the conference in the SEC is much steeper than the ACC. Any coach at Tennessee will forever be in Pat’s shadow. Kara doesn’t have that problem at Duke.
