SC beginning to take control. 21-19

Improving to 25 total points scored in the quarter.

So apparently the ESPN/Coaches poll is irrelevant. At least ESPN must think so - they're using today's AP ranking which has TN back at #24 in order to promote this game's attractiveness to the casual watcher. Gotta admire their integrity. Too bad for them TN is playing like an unranked team.

USC came out looking tight, rushing their shots, missing layups, and committing boneheaded turnovers. In the second period when they realized Wilson could not be covered inside they simply lobbed the ball into the middle. Wilson inevitably would came up with it no matter the coverage and would either score or get fouled. To me this is the antithesis of team basketball and more like football. Go deep I'll hit you. Booooring, unskilled, brute force basketball. Pat Summit ball.

Why didn't Tennessee wait until the last seconds for the final shot. Such a poorly coached team with low basketball IQ players.
Why does Cooper keep dribbling around without purpose on each offensive set using half the shot clock up, ending in an ill advised pass or desperation heave?

Coaching, I suspect.

Because that is the classic Tennessee offense.

How are the announcers handling this?

Coates and Cooper both with 3 fouls.
